Radon Gas Mitigation Photo Album: Radon Detection and Mitigation in Worthington, MN

Maria G. in Worthington, MN learned about the dangers of radon and decided to have her home tested. The results came back above the required action level of 4 pCi/L, so she contacted American Waterworks to have a Radon Mitigation System installed.  Our Foreman, Dakota Merchlewitz, began the installation by drilling a hole in the concrete slab in the basement and connected the PVC pipe. Maria had an old sump pump basket in her floor, which also needed to be covered and sealed. When radon gas is present, an open pit gives radon access to the home as the gas emits from beneath the slab and seeps into the basement. He installed an air-tight sump pump lid and sealed the cracking found in her basement. Dakota completed the project with installing the radon fan, which pulls the radon gas above and away from the home and making sure the U-Tube manometer was functioning properly. Maria now has peace of mind knowing her home is a safe place!
