Radon Gas Mitigation Photo Album: Radon Mitigation System Installed in Bigelow, MN

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that has become the second-leading cause of lung cancer. Homeowners can't smell, taste, see, touch, or hear radon, therefore, it can affect anyone in the home.  Dusty and Tiffany N. of Bigelow, MN wanted to get their home tested for radon so they got in contact with our office line and scheduled a free estimate to get a radon test with our Design Specialist, Brian. Brian went to their home and set up our CRM (Continuous Radon Monitor) which tests the radon levels in the house. It typically takes about 48 hours for the test results to come back. So, two days later, Brian went back to their home and found out the test results were high. Tiffany and Dusty knew of the dangers and side effects of radon gas, so they decided to move forward with the project and get our Radon Mitigation System installed in their home.  Our radon Foremen, Dakota and Geno, began the project by introducing themselves to Dusty and Tiffany and answering any last-minute questions they had about the system. After a thorough introduction, our team got to work. Geno drilled a hole in the basement sump pump, creating a suction point to suck the radon out. He installed a PVC pipe from the sump pump and used a laser, which is a measurement tool to know where to drill the next hole. Geno drilled a hole through the ceiling, guiding the PVC piping to Dakota, who was on the second floor. Dakota grabbed the piping and connected more PVC up through the second-floor ceiling to the attic. In the attic, Dakota installed our Radon Mitigation System Airflow Fan. This is the heart of the system, therefore, if it isn't working properly, radon won't be able to escape the home. From the attic, Dakota drilled a hole to get to the roof and connected PVC pipe up through the roof, allowing an exit for the radon to disperse into open, outdoor air. To complete the installation, Dakota got on the roof and installed a roof flashing around the PVC pipe, which is made to keep any penetration or moisture from invading the piping, while Geno swept the basement clean. Dusty and Tiffany couldn't believe how quick the installation took, and were impressed by Geno and Dakota's teamwork!  Are you curious about the radon levels in your home?
