Cracked Foundation in Mankato, MN Cracked Foundation in Mankato, MN

Mr. Conner's foundation walls are cracking and pushing inward due to the expansive soils and hydrostatic pressure on the walls from outside his home. We recommended installing eleven Geo-Lock Wall Anchors along the bowing wall to stabilize and restore the wall back to its original position.  The soil anchors were placed in the ground outside his home. Steel rods attached to soil anchors extend through the foundation wall and wall plates. Wall plates distribute clamping pressure. Tightening nuts on the threaded ends of the rods stabilize the wall for a permanent solution.

Homeowners James and Rachel D. of Mankato, MN had water leaking through the cracks of their foundation walls, causing them to worry about water damage and the stability of their home. They got in contact with our office staff and scheduled a FREE estimate with our Design Specialist, Jared. Jared went to James and Rachel's house, inspected their problems, and designed a solution that worked for them and their budget. They were confident in Jared's proposal and were comfortable with our products and their warranties, so he went ahead with the project.

Our Foreman, Juan, and his production team started the installation by breaking out the concrete floor perimeter, forming a waterway trench. In the trench, our team installed our WaterGuard Drainage System, which serves as an underground drain and collects water seepage from basement walls. Next, Juan and his crew installed our CleanSpace Wall System Vapor Barrier around the entire wall perimeter. Our CleanSpace is made to prevent mold and humidity and serves as an extra wall protectant while saving money on energy bills. Lastly, our team dug holes outside of the home beyond the foundation and inserted a long, metal rod from the inside foundation to each hole outside of the home. On the ends of the rod in the soil, our team installed an anchor plate, which holds the rod in place in the soil. Inside the basement, our team installed a GeoLock Channel Anchor on each rod to stabilize the wall. The combination of our production crew, the anchor plates, rods, and wall anchors work together to straighten the wall back into its original position. To complete the installation, our crew filled the open floor gaps with pea gravel and river rock and applied new concrete over them.

James and Rachel had a great experience with our team and their peace of mind is restored!

Dangerous Levels of Radon Mitigated in Mankato, MN

Anne L. and her husband in Mankato, MN had recently purchased a home and their realtor recommended that they have the home tested for radon before they move in. After learning that radon is the #1 cause of lung cancer for non-smokers and kills over 21,000 people each year, they started looking for a company to test their home, so they would not be putting their health at risk. Their realtor recommended using American Waterworks, so they gave us a call and we sent our one of our Design Specialists, Jeremy Radtke, to set up the test. 48 hours later, Jeremy came back to read the test results. He discovered that their house did in fact have high levels of radon. Jeremy recommended that they have our radon mitigation system installed as soon as possible and they agreed.

Our radon mitigation specialists drilled a hole through the concrete in the basement to create a suction point for the gas. Then, a PVC pipe is inserted which goes up through the house and exits the home through the roof. A fan is installed at the top of the PVC pipe to ensure that the radon gas is being pushed away from the home. The post radon mitigation test showed a drastic reduction in radon gas, and they were relieved that their health would not be compromised. The installation only took one day to complete, and now they can rest easy knowing that their home is protected.

While he was visiting a local home show, he stopped at the American Waterworks booth to discuss his humidity challenges. One of our Design Specialists talked to him about his options and highly recommended having the SaniDry Upright put in his basement. Robert felt this was the most appropriate solution for his problem, so he set a time for an installer to come out.

The SaniDry uses a powerful blowing motor that circulates dry air throughout the space, aggressively drying out the basement. Collected water is then drained into a sump pump pit, a section of your perimeter drains, or away via a condensate pump. It can remove up to 109 liters of water per day. After Robert had the SaniDry installed in his basement, he noticed the humidity in his basement had dramatically decreased. He was pleased with his purchase and is glad his basement is protected from humidity.

To begin the production crew start by taking measurements to strategically place the PowerBraces and GeoLocks along the problem walls. For the GeoLocks Anchor System, there are holes that are dug along the exterior of the house, alongside the problem wall. Once this part of the process is done, the crew proceeds by drilling a metal rod through the wall into these designated holes. Attached to the end of the rod is an anchor plate which helps keep the wall from further bowing. Once the Anchor system is placed the homeowner may tighten these plates to straighten the wall. Wesley was satisfied with the installation and happy that we were able to improve the quality and the structural integrity of his home!

Wall Failure Risk in Albany, MN

A homeowner in Albany, MN, was concerned regarding the growing crack along their basement wall. Before the crack could worsen, the homeowner sought to have a professional foundation repair company take a look. After many positive referrals, the homeowner decided to work with American Waterworks. The homeowner called our Appointment Center and signed up for their FREE estimate. We sent our Design Specialist, Ryan, to the home to take a look at the crack. Upon arrival, Ryan saw that the soil near the bowing wall was causing significant pressure. Without assistance, the wall will eventually fall apart and fail. Ryan suggested that the homeowner stabilize the wall with Geo-Lock anchors. The Geo-Lock wall anchor system is an innovative wall anchor system that permanently stabilizes your foundation wall by anchoring your walls to hard-packed virgin soil beyond your foundation. In addition to stabilizing your foundation, the Geo-Lock anchors can gradually straighten your walls over time.

After the homeowner approved the plan, our Foreman, Tremaine, and his crew arrived to begin the project. Tremaine and the crew started by prepping the west wall for the Geo-Lock installation. First, the crew carefully cuts out sections of the lawn to place the first anchor. Then, a steel pole is directed through the dirt to connect to the anchor attached to the interior foundation walls. After the Geo-Locks are put into place, the crew places the lawn back to make it appear like no work has been done. The homeowner asked to include the straightening kit, so they can straighten the wall over time. The homeowner was pleased with the job done by the crew. American Waterworks loves helping its customers feel safe in their homes again. If you are experiencing a similar issue, sign up for your FREE estimate today!

Our Foreman, Sam, and his crew arrived at the home and began by clearing all the items off the patio. Once the patio was cleared, the crew could begin injecting the PolyLevel underneath the patio and sidewalk. PolyLevel is a polyurethane foam injection solution that is used to restore the appearance and safety of concrete. The crew begins by strategically drilling small 5/8" holes into the concrete slab. Then, injection ports are installed in those small holes. Next, polyurethane foam is injected below the concrete to fill voids and raise the slab.
