Jeffrey H. in Champlin, MN discovered the adverse effects that radon gas has on people's health and he became concerned because his home had not yet been tested. He started looking for a company to test his home, and he came across American Waterworks’ website. He was glad to see that along with concrete repair, basement waterproofing and foundation repair, we also offer radon testing and mitigation. He gave us a call and we sent one of our Design Specialists, Jeremy Radtke, to his home to set up the test. The results showed that Jeffrey did in fact have unsafe levels of radon in his home. Jeremy explained the risks of not having a radon mitigation system installed and he walked Jeffrey through the installation process. Jeffrey wanted to have the system installed as soon as possible, so they scheduled the project.

Our radon mitigation specialists drilled a hole through the concrete under the stairs in the basement to create a suction point for the gas. Then, a PVC pipe is inserted which goes up through the house and exits the home through the roof. A fan is installed at the top of the PVC pipe to ensure that the radon gas is being pushed away from the home. The post mitigation test results showed that his home was now a much safer environment. The installation took only one day to complete, and Jeffrey is glad he took action to protect his and his family’s health.

Jeff was confident in Jesse's proposal, so he moved ahead with the concrete repairs.

Our Foreman, James Jacques, and his crew member began the project by injecting PolyLevel underneath the concrete to raise and stabilize the surface. Our PolyLevel is an expanding foam that fills the gaps caused by soil erosion and cures within 15 minutes after it's injected. Next, our team applied our NexusPro over the cracks to prevent moisture from seeping into the soil beneath. NexusPro provides long-term flexibility and can stand up to harsh weather conditions. Job Stories From Champlin, MN
Champlin, MN, Sunken Patio Raised

A homeowner in Champlin, MN, knew it was time to have their patio inspected. Unsure of what could have caused this issue, the homeowner wanted to find answers. The homeowner had a friend who had similar issues, so they asked them for any recommendations. Their friend praised working with us, American Waterworks, and talked about our impressive products and crews. Convinced enough to work with us, the homeowner decided to sign up for their FREE estimate on our website. Once the estimate was set, we sent one of our Design Specialists, Gary, to the home to start the detailed estimate. Gary inspected, measured, and was able to diagnose a solution for the sunken patio. Next, Gary was able to present his findings to the homeowner and provide them with a proper solution. The homeowner liked Gary's plan, so they agreed with his recommendations. The plans were sent to the office to be finalized, then to our Foreman, Patrick, and his crew to begin. Patrick and his crew made their way to the home and started the lift. To lift the patio back to its original level, the homeowner used PolyLevel, a polyurethane foam injection solution. The PolyLevel is a polyurethane foam injection solution that restores the appearance and safety of the concrete. The crew started by strategically drilling small holes throughout the slab. Then, the crew inserts ports into those small holes. Next, the polyurethane foam is injected beneath the concrete to fill voids and raise the slabs. Finally, the holes and control joints are sealed. Once the PolyLevel injection was finished, the crew shifted their focus to filling the cracks and replacing the joints. The crew utilized NexusPro Sealant, a silicone-based sealant for joints and cracks formulated to provide long-lasting flexibility and withstand harsh weather conditions. The crew begins by drilling, smoothing, and preparing the non-absorbent backer rod filler. Then, the NexusPro Sealant is inserted in the prepared crack or control joint. Finally, the cracks are detailed with a thin layer of native sand, giving the concrete a uniform, finished appearance. Once all the products were properly installed, the crew could clean up their materials and leave the home. The homeowner was delighted with the excellent work completed by the crew. Sump Pump Transformation in Champlin, MN

A homeowner in Champlin, MN, found their sump pump was beginning to malfunction. Worried this could cause long-term damage, the homeowners knew they needed a professional to provide them with a possible solution. After some research, the homeowner came across an impressive sump pump before and after on our social media. The homeowner took a closer look at our services and decided that we were the company for them. Since they were already on the website, the homeowner decided to sign up for their FREE estimate. Once their FREE estimate was set, the homeowner awaited the arrival of Nick, one of our Design Specialists. Nick arrived at the home and began looking inspecting the basement and the area around it. Following his inspection, Nick discovered that the sump pump needed to be replaced. Nick presented his solution to the homeowner and they agreed. Once they earned the stamp of approval, the plans were sent to the office and then to our Foreman, Diego. Diego and his crew traveled to the home to begin the sump pump installation. Before the sump pump could be replaced, the crew started by installing WaterGuard around the old sump pump. The WaterGuard is a below-floor drain that rests in a bed of drainage stone on top of the foundation footing. The crew installs the WaterGuard by digging channels around the perimeter of the basement floor. Once the channels are dug, the crew can go ahead and place the drainage stone in the channels. The WaterGuard is then placed on top of the stone and covered with cement. Once the WaterGuard is in place, the crew could shift their focus to removing the old sump pump and replacing it with the SuperSump+. The crew installed a feedline across the floor to connect the SuperSump+ to the new WaterGuard. Next, the crew attached CleanSpace to the unfinished basement walls. CleanSpace is a 100% waterproof plastic vapor barrier that prevents humidity and mold growth. The crew installs CleanSpace by mechanically attaching them to the basement walls with plastic drilled-in fasteners. Once the CleanSpace was secured, the crew could clean up their materials and leave the home. The homeowner was relieved to know they had an up-to-date sump pump.
