Dangerous Radon Gas Gets Mitigated in Chanhassen, MN

A homeowner from Chanhassen, MN, had been chatting with his neighbor when he learned that the neighbor had recently had his home tested for radon gas. The homeowner didn't know much about the dangers of radon gas but was interested in having his home tested. He wanted more radon gas information, so he began to look for Minnesota radon specialists. One day, he saw one of our printed ads and decided to sign up for his FREE estimate, and several weeks later, Ryan P, one of our Design Specialists, was scheduled to stop out to the home.

When Ryan arrived at the home, he began the inspection by placing a continuous radon monitoring test in the lowest level of the home to capture the average amount of radon circulating in the home. He then explained that if the levels returned higher than 4 pCi/L, he would recommend installing a radon mitigation system. He explained that a typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. When installed by an experienced radon mitigation specialist, a radon abatement system will lower the concentration of radon gas in your interior air to the minimal levels recommended by the EPA and other health and safety agencies. The homeowner agreed with Ryan and decided to hold off on deciding until his results returned. A week later, the homeowner received his results and was floored when they returned much higher than 4 pCi/L. He called Ryan that day to schedule the job.

On the day of the installation, our Radon Foreman, Dakota M, was able to install the entire system with no problems. Now, our customer can be confident in the air circulating his home!

Chanhassen, MN Back Patio Lifted

A homeowner in Chanhassen, MN saw their patio was becoming a tripping hazard. To prevent any injuries, the homeowner began looking into repair options. After their long search, the homeowner decided to work with us American Waterworks. On our website, the homeowner signed up for their FREE estimate. Once the estimate was settled, we sent one of our Design Specialists, Kyle, to perform the inspection. Once Kyle arrived, he did a thorough evaluation of the back patio and saw that it was sinking into the ground. To prevent the sinking from continuing, Kyle recommended lifting and leveling the sidewalk. After some deliberation, the homeowner knew this was their best option. Once they received the green light, our Foreman, Patrick, and his crew traveled to begin the project. Patrick and his crew arrived at the home and started by lifting the back patio with the PolyLevel, a polyurethane foam injection solution. The crew begins by strategically drilling small 5/8" holes into the slab. Next, the crew installs injection ports in the small holes. Then, the polyurethane foam is injected beneath the concrete to fill the voids and raise the slab. Finally, the crew sealed the holes and control joints. After the walkways were lifted, the crew shifted their focus to replacing the joints on the patio. To replace these joints, the crew used the NexusPro Joint Sealant, a silicone-based sealant. First, the crew drilled, smoothed, and prepared the cracks with a non-absorbent backer rod filler. Then, the NexusPro sealant is inserted into the prepared crack or control joint. Finally, the cracks are detailed with a thin layer of native sand, giving the concrete a uniform, finished appearance. After all the products were installed, the crew cleaned up their materials and left the home. If you are suffering from a similar issue, sign up for your FREE estimate today!

Chanhassen Crawl Space Transformed

A homeowner in Chanhassen, MN, was alarmed by the status of their crawl space. Knowing it needed a revamp, the homeowner began looking for the company to complete the job. After coming across our social media, they found many impressive crawl space transformations. The homeowner decided to sign up for our FREE estimate by calling our Appointment Center. Ryan, one of our Design Specialist, was sent to the home to evaluate the crawl space. Once Ryan completed the estimate, he provided the homeowners with a solution that would fix their crawl space. The homeowners agreed to the suggestions and Ryan's drafted plans were sent to the assigned crew.

Our Foreman, Brandon, and his crew arrived at the home and began by clearing all the debris from the crawl space. After the crawl space was cleared, the crew could go ahead and lay the Drainage Matting. The raised dimples of Drainage Matting give the water flooding into your crawl space a channel underneath your crawl space liner. The crew installs the Drainage Matting by laying it on the crawl space floor. Once the Draining Matting is laid, the crew then installed CleanSpace on the crawl space floor and walls. CleanSpace is a 100% waterproof plastic vapor barrier that protects from mold growth and water intrusion. The crew mechanically attaches CleanSpace to the basement walls with plastic drilled-in fasteners. Next, the crew injects SprayFoam into the joist pockets of the crawl space. Finally, Foamax is installed on the outside walls of the crawl space. The crew cleaned up the site and left the home. The homeowners were thrilled with the excellent work completed by the crew. American Waterworks is glad to make another customer's wishes come true.  If you are experiencing a similar issue, sign up for your FREE estimate today!

Cracked Foundation Restored with Helical Piers in Chanhassen, MN

Linda A. in Chanhassen, MN had a crack in her concrete block foundation that was continuously widening. She also had a small front porch with a concrete base that was cracking and crumbling. The foundation of her home had started sinking and settling because the soil beneath the foundation was unstable. She knew that the problem would continue to get worse and if she chose to leave her foundation problem unattended to, her foundation could eventually fail. Linda was considering rebuilding the porch and replacing the foundation, but while she was researching her options, she discovered American Waterworks on Home Advisor. She learned that she could repair her foundation for a fraction of the price it would cost to replace it. She decided to contact us to receive a FREE estimate. We sent one of our Design Specialists, Jeremy Radtke, went to her home to inspect her foundation and provide her with a solution. She was pleased with his plan and the proposal, so she scheduled the installation.

American Waterworks solved her foundation problem by installing 6 Helical piers underneath the foundation. Our production team excavated the soil around the home to gain access to the base of the foundation. Then, they installed the 6 piers under the foundation and added helical pier sections until we reached competent soil to support the home. The weight of the home is then transferred through the helical piers to deep, stable soils. Lastly, they carefully replaced the soil around the home. The home has been lifted back to its original position and it is now permanently supported. Our piers are backed by a lifetime guarantee, so Linda is confident that she chose the best long-term solution to protect her home.
