Job Stories From Chisago County, MN
Wet Crawl Space in North Branch, MN

Doug G. in North Branch, MN had a dirt crawl space that was high in moisture and was letting energy out of his home, therefore wasting his money. A friend referred him to American Waterworks because they had previously had a great experience while working with us. Doug decided to check us out, and he contacted us for a FREE estimate. We were happy to send one of our Design Specialists, Chad Johnson, to his home to inspect his problem and provide a solution. Chad developed a thorough waterproofing plan for his crawl space that would permanently keep the space clean and energy efficient. Doug was happy with the proposal, so they scheduled a time for our crew to do the install.

Our production team installed drainage matting, a SmartDrain, our CleanSpace vapor barrier, and TerraBlock. The combination of these waterproofing products protect the space from losing energy, moisture accumulating, and the potential of mold growth. The project only took a day to complete, and this solution will last for the lifetime of the home. Doug is glad he chose to invest in the long-term protection of his home, and the cost savings that come with having an energy efficient space.

Water Leaking into Basement in Shafer, MN

Craig S. in Shafer, MN had water seeping into his basement and his old sump pump was not able to keep up with the amount of water coming in. While looking for a local waterproofing company, he came across American Waterworks’ website and decided to contact us for a free estimate. We sent one of our Design Specialists, Chad Johnson, to his home to inspect his basement and to develop a solution for him. Chad designed a thorough waterproofing plan to ensure that Craig’s basement would remain a permanently dry space after the installation. Craig liked to proposal that Chad put together, so he scheduled the installation.

Our production team installed a full perimeter of our WaterGuard drainage system on the basement floor. They also installed a SuperSump sump pump and our CleanSpace wall system around the entire basement. The WaterGuard properly guides water to the sump pump, which then pumps the water through the discharge line to the outside of the home. The CleanSpace wall system is a vapor barrier that protects the basement from any moisture seeping in and the potential of mold growth. The combination of these waterproofing products has made Craig’s basement a dry, clean and brighter space. Our waterproofing system is backed by a lifetime warranty, so Craig is confident that he chose the right waterproofing solution to protect his basement for the long-term.

Wyoming, MN Home with Sagging Crawl Space

Darrin K. in Wyoming, MN noticed that the moisture in his crawl space was damaging the beams that were supporting the floor. The beams had started rotting, which caused the floor to sag. He knew the problem was only going to get worse, so he started looking at repair options. He chose to contact American Waterworks to receive a FREE estimate, so we sent one of our Design Specialists, Chad Johnson, to his home to inspect his crawl space and design a solution.

Chad recommended having SmartJacks installed in the crawl space to support the beams. The SmartJack system provides solid support for sagging and undersized beams, restoring stability and straightness to sagging floor joists in a crawl space. Darrin was comfortable with this solution, so our production crew installed 6 SmartJacks and 32ft of supplemental beams. Our crawl space structural support jacks, called SmartJacks, are made of galvanized steel for corrosion resistance and can support loads of more than 60,000lbs! Our SmartJacks are the ONLY crawl space support jacks that address problem soils, so the SmartJacks provide a permanent solution for rotting, sagging floor beams. Darrin was pleased with the transformation and he is no longer concerned about the stability of his floors.

Radon Mitigation in Harris, MN

Radon is a senseless gas that can be toxic and present in your home. Since it is a gas, it can enter through cracks, holes, or other openings. Behind smoking, it is the second-leading cause of lung cancer.

A homeowner in Harris, MN had high radon levels, and they wanted to get their home tested. Thankfully, they knew one of our Design Specialists, so they asked him about our FREE estimates for radon tests. The homeowner felt confident in our radon tests, so our Design Specialist performed a test on their home. The test came back with very high results, so the homeowner decided to get a mitigation system installed in their home.

Our Foreman and his crew member started the project by drilling a suction point into the sump pump. The reasoning for this is to suck out all of the air underneath the concrete. From there, our team connected PVC piping from the suction point to the outside of the home, where they installed the mitigation system. Our Radon Mitigation System is the heart of the system. If that system fails, radon will not be able to escape the home. From the system, our team installed another PVC pipe along the siding until the roof, where the radon escapes and dissolves into the air. Do you have high radon levels in your home or are you curious about your radon levels? Call us today or click HERE to request your free estimate!

PolyLevel Lift and Repair in Taylors Falls, MN

Pat from Taylors Falls, MN, got in contact with us when he began to notice uneven concrete forming between his porch and sidewalk in front of his house. Pat was concerned that, if left untreated, the gap between slabs of concrete would only continue to grow, posing even more of a trip hazard than before. Pat used his FREE estimate and we got our Design Specialist out to the property as soon as we could. When our Design Specialist arrived he did a thorough investigation to find the root of the cause. He discovered that the soil beneath the slabs had begun to settle, causing the slabs to sink further into the soil beneath. Our Design Specialist suggested the use of our PolyLevel foam to help raise the concrete back to its former state. Our PolyLevel is a proven polyurethane foam that is injected under the slabs of concrete directly into the gaps and problem areas. As the foam sets and expands, it slowly raises the slabs of concrete back to their original state. Our PolyLevel Foreman, Troy, was able to get to the property soon after recommendations were made. He injected the concrete and was able to eliminate the tripping hazards that had formed. Now Pat and his family can safely use their porch stairs without fear of injury.

Concrete Lift & Level in North Branch, MN

Sandra from North Branch, MN, enlisted our help when she noticed that her front walkway surrounding her home was beginning to sink, creating fairly large gaps. She was afraid that if she left the concrete as is that it would create an even bigger hazard and could be much harder, and more expensive, to fix down the road. When she called us she was able to use her FREE estimate to diagnose the issue. We sent our Design Specialist, Jesse, out to the property to do a thorough inspection into the cause of the issue, the extent of the damage, and to make recommendations as to how we could help Sandra moving forward. Once Jesse had completed his inspection, he informed Sandra that the root of the problem was the soil beneath the slabs of concrete was settling, lowering the concrete with it. Because of the size of the gaps already forming, Jesse recommended that Sandra take action quickly to ensure no further damage was done. He recommended our PolyLevel injection; an expanding polyurethane foam that is injected beneath the concrete to fill the gaps caused by soil erosion and raise and stabilize the concrete surfaces. Sandra agreed and our Foreman, Ben, and his crew were on the scene in the coming weeks.

Ben and his crew began by strategically drilling holes into the problem concrete slabs. Next, they injected the foam into the holes and monitored the raising process to ensure the slabs returned to their former place. To finish the job, the crew sealed all the cracks and holes with our NexusPro, a long-lasting silicone-based sealant for joints and cracks.

When the job was complete, Sandra was happy with the work our team did and was relieved that her worries were in the past!

The two agreed and work began shortly after. Our Foreman and his crew made quick work of lifting and leveling the concrete back to its former glory. Settling Sidewalk Lifted in Stacy, MN

A homeowner from Stacy, MN, was having more and more difficulty navigating the uneven concrete in front of his home. Not wanting to continue dealing with the issue, he decided to give American Waterworks a call to see what his options were. When he called in we set him up with our FREE estimate and a few weeks later our Design Specialist, Daniel, was scheduled to visit the home.

On the day of the inspection, Daniel took his time to thoroughly inspect the concrete slabs to see how far they had sunken. Once he completed his inspection, he informed the homeowner that concrete sinking is all too common and can happen for various reasons, but can be rectified with a simple solution: PolyLevel. Our PolyLevel is a polyurethane foam that expands when injected underneath concrete slabs. It's the most modern, effective, and non-invasive solution to sinking concrete. Daniel finished by saying that when the lift is complete, he'd like our team to seal the cracks and joints of the slab with our NexusPro solution, a silicone-based sealant designed specifically for the cracks and joints in concrete to protect the soil below from the elements, which in turn prevents further settlement. The homeowner agreed and the work was scheduled to be completed a few weeks later.

On the day of the project, our Foreman, Sam, headed out to the property and began the process by verifying the measurements Daniel had left behind. Next, he got to work drilling holes into the sunken slab. Then, he inserted the PolyLevel through the pre-drilled holes, carefully monitoring the lifting process to ensure the slab returned to its desired location. When the lift had been completed, Sam slowly installed the NexusPro along the joints of the concrete. Once the project was completed the homeowner was thrilled to know that his concrete was safe for use!
