Jessica from Mendota, MN, got in contact with us when she suspected that her home was infested with hazardous Radon gas. Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can be extremely harmful to both humans and pets if inhaled at high levels for an extended period of time. In fact, Radon gas exposure has quickly become the second leading cause of lung cancer. Radon can be measured in picocuries per liter, or pCi/L. The National Radon Defense suggests taking action with any levels above 4 pCi/L. Jessica used her FREE estimate and we sent our Design Specialist, Dustin, out to the property to complete a Radon test to find out the levels in the home. When the results came back, Dustin found the levels to be at 6.8 pCi/L, well above when the NRD would recommend action. He suggested Jessica have a Radon mitigation system installed, which would help lift the gas from the home and expel it up and outwards through a vent in the top of the house. Our Foreman, Juan, installed the system with little hassle. Now, Jessica and her family can breathe a bit easier knowing that their home is no longer infested with dangerous levels of Radon.
A concerned customer from Rosemount, MN, got in contact with us when her cracked and settling concrete slab in her garage began to worsen. She knew that if she left the problem unresolved it could create a potentially dangerous tripping hazard or could worsen and be more expensive to fix later down the road. When she called in, we set her up with our FREE estimate, and one of our Design Specialists from our Concrete and Radon Division headed out to the property in the coming weeks. Once he arrived, he did a thorough investigation into the problem. Once he finished his walk-through he was able to make his recommendations as to how we could best help fix the issue. He recommended that our customer invests in our Lift and Level option for her concrete slab. This process entails us drilling strategic holes into the slab and then injecting our PolyLevel foam into the holes. This foam is an expanding polyurethane foam that is injected beneath concrete slabs to fill gaps caused by soil erosion and raise and stabilize the concrete surfaces. Our Foreman, Sam, was able to complete the project with little hassle. When the job was completed, our customer was happy to know that her concrete slab wasn't moving any time soon!

Our customer, David, from Inver Grove Heights, MN, reached out to us when he noticed that his concrete walkway to his garage was uneven and may cause potential trip hazards. David was worried that this problem may worsen over time and cause a major problem down the road. When David contacted our office at American Waterworks, we were able to set David up with the FREE estimate that we offer. A Design Specialist forms our Concrete and Radon division was then able to visit David and do a thorough inspection of the issue and see how we can prevent any further damage to the concrete. Once a thorough inspection was complete our Design Specialist recommended that David should invest in our lifting and leveling option. David agreed and our Foreman, Brandon, and his crew arrived at the scene and proceeded with the installation. The crew began by drilling holes in strategically placed areas through the concrete slab and filled it with our PolyLevel solution, which is an expanding polyurethane foam that fills the gap between the concrete and the soil due to soil erosion. This poly foam then raises and stabilizes the concrete slab. During the process, the crew keeps a close eye as the foam expands to the appropriate height. After the PolyLevel stage, Brandon and his team, then finish by sealing any holes or joints that remain with our NexusPro solution. The NexusPro solution is a silicone-based sealant that is long-lasting and durable. This is so that the joints do not separate or tear in harsh weather where concrete may expand or shrink with temperature. David was happy with the work that has been done and worry-free that the issue will not occur again.

Tim from Lakeville, MN, noticed a crack and bow on the foundation wall supporting his garage, causing him to worry about the structural integrity of his home. He then proceeded to call the Appointment Center here at American Waterworks after hearing about the FREE estimate we offer. Once claiming his free estimate and scheduled an appointment, our Design Specialist, Shane Nephew then attended Tim's home and began a thorough house inspection to provide the best solution to prevent any further damage or future issues involving the home's foundation. After the inspection, Shane proposed that Tim should invest in our GeoLock Wall Anchors to permanently stabilize the issue wall. Tim was content with the proposal and proceeded to set a date of installation.
Then, on the day of installation, our Foreman Jesus C., and his team then began the installation process by digging four holes inside the garage large enough to fit an anchor plate. Once dug, the team then proceeds to drill holes through the issue wall and insert a long rod that goes through the hard compact soil underneath the home. Once the rods are inserted the production team then proceeds to attach a wall anchor plate at the end of each side of the rod. Once the job was finished the team backfilled the holes and place a layer of concrete to provide a more finishing look. The GeoLock Wall anchors could be tightened over time to provide more stability in straightening the wall over time. Tim is now comfortable that his home's foundation is in no danger.

A homeowner in Farmington, MN, knew their crawl space needed a professional evaluation. Unsure of what company to work with, the homeowner asked their neighbors about their past experiences. Many neighbors recommended American Waterworks, so the homeowner signed up for their FREE estimate. Soon after finalizing the appointment details, we sent out Ryan, one of our Design Specialists to the home. Ryan arrived and performed the crawl space inspection. After considering all their options, the homeowner agreed with Ryan's suggestions, and the plans were sent to the assigned crew. Once production details were confirmed, the crew set out for the home to begin the stabilization. The crew began by installing the eight Geo-Locks, four on the west wall and four on the north wall. Geo-Locks are a galvanized steel wall anchor system that permanently stabilizes your foundation wall by anchoring to untouched soil beyond your foundation. To begin the installation, the crew excavated a small section of the lawn to insert the first Geo-Lock anchor. Then, a small steel pole is pushed through the soil to connect to the interior Geo-Lock anchor. Once the Geo-Lock anchors are connected and secured, the crew covers the hole in the lawn. Additionally, the crew left a straightening kit, so the homeowner can straighten their walls over time. A homeowner in Burnsville, MN was soaking in the beginning of the summer by enjoying his backyard pool area. He noticed upon looking closer at the joints on the concrete pool deck that there were many small cracks and holes that had formed. Not only that, but the overall look of the joints was worn down and faded. He wanted to make a change to fix the problems, so the space was upgraded for the rest of summer. The homeowner decided to give American Waterworks a call because he knew they offered FREE no-obligation estimates. He scheduled one for himself and was greeted by Design Specialist Kyle Peters. Kyle inspected the pool deck area and found the issues the homeowner was concerned with. He informed the homeowner that the current sealant had faced damage over time from the outdoor elements and recommended our product, NexusPro, a silicone-based sealant for joints and cracks, as a replacement. The homeowner was eager to move forward and agreed to the plans. We sent one of our Formen, Reese Rinken, and his crew to the site to carry out the installation. They carefully filled the joints with the new sealant, which resists UV rays, meaning it won't ever crack, bubble, or dry out. To finish the project, they sprinkled native sand over the sealant to smooth out and polish off the look. The homeowner was so happy with the final result and to have his pool deck area upgraded and ready for the future summer pool days.

In Eagan, MN a homeowner was in her basement space when she discovered a small puddle of water on the floor. She became concerned and was worried about further damage happening if nothing was done. Rather than do a ton of research on companies that specialized in basement waterproofing, she called the company that her neighbor had success with when their basement had water damage. We informed her that we were able to help and set her up with a FREE no-obligation estimate with one of our Design Specialists, Adam Voigt. When Adam arrived at the home, he discovered the homeowner's current sump pump wasn't able to keep up with the amount of water that was entering through the foundation. He recommended a new pump be installed to prevent any more water coming through and damaging the space. The homeowner happily agreed with the plans and for the project to move forward. We sent over one of our Foremen, Chris Newton, and his crew for the installation of a SuperSump Plus pump system. Chris discovered that the new pump was too big for the area that the current pump was located and explained his idea to the homeowner to move the location over for the best results. The homeowner was pleased that he brought it up to her and approved of the idea. The crew then dug up the new space for the pump, inserted the sump pump pit, and placed the SuperSump Plus inside. To finish off the project, the crew laid clean gravel and new concrete around the pump to keep out dirt and debris. Thanks to our team members, the homeowner now has an effective pump system to keep her basement water-free.

A homeowner in Lakeville, MN was tired of dealing with water entering one of the rooms in her basement every time it rained. Not only was it tiresome to clean up the mess, but also left behind areas of water damage to the concrete flooring. She knew it was time to take action and find a solution, so she went online to search "waterproofing Minneapolis." She found the American Waterworks website and decided to sign up for a FREE no-obligation estimate with us to learn more. Our Design Specialist, Darin Stenglein, went to the home to carry out a detailed inspection of the basement and see what recommendations he could come up with. Darin explained to the homeowner that because the floors were concrete, there were likely small cracks and pores in them where the water entered from. To tackle this problem, he recommended our WaterGuard basement drain system be installed to the perimeter of the room to catch incoming water and safely send it away. The homeowner was excited to hear that something could be done, so she agreed to the installation. Later, one of our Foreman, Kiko Pena, and his crew arrived at the site and began the project by jackhammering channels along the perimeter of the basement room. They partly filled in the channels with drainage stone followed by the WaterGuard drains and more clean stone on top. Finally, they poured and smoothed concrete in the channels to provide protection to the drains by keeping out dirt and debris from entering. The homeowner was very happy with how the project went and relieved that water wouldn't be making its way inside the home anymore.

A Lakeville, MN, homeowner had noticed an odd situation occurring. After each rain, the corner of her room would take on water, making the carpet damp and leaving the room bathed in a musty smell. Not wanting the issue to worsen, she began to look for a basement waterproofing company in Minnesota. Off of the referral of a friend, she decided to contact American Waterworks and set up her FREE estimate. A few weeks later, one of our Design Specialist, Dustin A, headed out to the home. When he arrived, he got right to work completing his inspection and then met with the homeowner to deliver his recommendations. Dustin began by explaining that typically, waterproofing issues are most commonly noticed in the corner of rooms. This means that the soil around the foundation of the home is saturated, and through tiny cracks or holes in the wall, it is finding it's way into the room. He went on to say that American Waterworks could certainly help. First, Dustin recommended the use of our WaterGuard drainage system. WaterGuard is an award-winning, patented below-floor drain that rests in the bed of drainage stone on top of the foundation footing. By installing the drain at this point, the drain is out of the "mud zone" where similar drains tend to clog. It works to catch water entering through the wall or ground, directing it to the homeowner's sump pump. Dustin's second recommendation was our CleanSpace vapor barrier. This 100% waterproof tarp-like material gets adhered directly to the problem walls. It collects water entering the room through the holes or cracks in the wall, and directs the water downward and into the WaterGuard, which drains the water from the space. The homeowner liked the sound of the plan and decided to schedule his project for several weeks later.
On the day of the project, the homeowner was thrilled when our Foreman, Luis, and his team completed the installation with no issues. Now, our customer's room boasts 99ft of WaterGuard and another 99ft of CleanSpace, all working to keep water where it belongs...not on the floor!
