Radon Mitigation System Installed in Albert Lea, MN Radon Mitigation System Installed in Albert Lea, MN

Robert K. of Albert Lea, MN got his home tested for radon and his levels came back at 19.5 pCi/L. The Environmental Protection Agency requests that homes with above 4 pCi/L must take action right away. So, Robert did, and he called American Waterworks to set up an appointment after finding out we provide services for Radon Mitigation. Our Design Specialist, Michel, went to Robert's home and drew up a map and plan to install our Radon Mitigation System. Robert was confident in the price and product, so he went ahead with the installation.

Our Foreman, Geno, and his crew member started the installation by drilling a hole in the basement concrete floor, forming a suction point. The purpose of doing this is to pull radon out from underneath the home. From there, our team connected PVC piping until they got to the house exterior, where they installed the Radon Mitigation System. The system is the heart of the system. If the system isn't working, then radon is not escaping from the home. From there system, our team connected PVC piping along the siding of the home until they got to the roof, which is where radon escapes into the open air. Robert said our team was clean, they explained everything well, and they were very professional!

Job Stories From Freeborn County, MN
Wet Basement in Hayward, MN

Dennis O. in Hayward, MN had water seeping into his basement that was causing damage to his home and it was making the space unlivable. Dennis decided it was time to seek help from a professional waterproofing contractor, so he began to research local companies. He came across American Waterworks and was pleased to see that we offer FREE onsite inspections, so he set an appointment.

One of our Design Specialists, Mike Radosevich, went to his home to evaluate the situation and find a solution. Mike developed a thorough plan to waterproof his entire basement for a lifetime. Dennis felt that Mike’s plan was the best fit for his needs, so he moved forward with the installation.

Our production team removed the concrete perimeter of his basement to install our WaterGuard drainage system. Then, the TripleSafe sump pump was installed. Any water seeping into his basement will now properly drain to the sump pump, which will then be discharged from the home. Dennis also chose to have our CleanSpace vapor barrier installed, which prevents leaks and mold growth. The CleanSpace brightened his basement and made it a more welcoming space. Dennis is pleased that he chose the option that protects his basement for a lifetime. He can now enjoy a dry, livable basement!

Inward Bowing Walls in Hollandale, MN

Chad M. in Hollandale, MN noticed that a wall in his basement had cracked and was bowing inward. He was concerned about the pressure this was putting on his foundation and the potential damage it could cause, so he started looking for a foundation repair contractor. He saw a commercial for American Waterworks and was glad to see that we specialize in foundation repair. He contacted us and set an appointment for a FREE onsite estimate.

We sent a Design Specialist to his home to evaluate the situation and find a solution. While onsite, our Design Specialist noticed that another wall in his basement was also bowing. In order to protect his foundation, our Design Specialist recommended that we install 5 wall anchors and 9 wall braces. Chad knew how costly it can be to replace a foundation, so he decided it was in his best interest to permanently stabilize his walls.

Our production crew installed the braces vertically against the wall to force the wall back to its original position. Next, the wall anchors were installed through the other bowing wall and into the soil outside of the house. The anchors are then tightened, which pushes the wall back into place and prevents it from bowing again.

The installation took a few days, however, our foundation repair products are backed by a lifetime warranty, so Chad will never again have to worry about the stability of his foundation. Chad is glad he chose to protect his home for the long-term.

Basement Leak in Alden, MN

Dennis M. was suffering from water leaking into his basement during heavy rains. He was tired of dealing with this every time there was a storm, so a friend recommended that he contact American Waterworks. He called us to receive a free estimate, and we sent one of our Design Specialists, Jeremy Radtke, to inspect his wet basement and design a solution. Jeremy worked with Dennis to develop a unique plan for his specific needs. Dennis liked the proposal and felt that he was in good hands with American Waterworks, so he moved forward with waterproofing his basement.

Our team installed a full perimeter of our WaterGuard drainage system, a TripleSafe sump pump, and lateral lines that connect the drainage system to the sump pump. When water leaks into his basement, it is now properly guided through the WaterGuard, to the sump pump, and then the water is pumped through the discharge line to the outside of the home. Our waterproofing system is backed by a lifetime warranty, so Dennis is glad he chose a permanent solution to protect his basement from water.

Damaged Foundation Restored in Albert Lea, MN

Alton in Albert Lea, MN had large cracks throughout his basement walls. He was concerned about the pressure that was being placed on his foundation and wanted to secure his walls before the damage became any worse. He contacted American Waterworks and we sent one of our Design Specialists, Pete Wangen, to his home to inspect his situation and provide him with a FREE estimate. Pete determined that we would be able to permanently repair his foundation by installing PowerBraces, which is a much more cost-effective solution compared to replacing the foundation. Alton was pleased with Pete’s solution, so they scheduled the installation.

Our Foreman, Hugo Sanchez, and his crew installed 7 PowerBraces against the walls. PowerBraces are strong steel I-beams that have a special rust-resistant zinc coating to ensure that your system will look and perform like new for years to come. By installing the PowerBraces, we immediately halted the inward movement of the foundation walls. The PowerBraces should be tightened over time, which can gradually straighten the walls. Alton was pleased with the end result and he is glad he chose to permanently restore his foundation.

After looking online at American Waterworks pier installation projects, they set up a FREE Estimate with one of our Design Specialists. We sent Tom Ringeisen to their home to inspect the home and come up with a solution that would save the structural integrity of their home. After an in-depth inspection, Jason and Sarah were comfortable with the solution of our Push Pier Foundation Repair System, so they scheduled their installation date.

Our Foreman, Mike Fanning, and his production crew began the installation by digging out the soil away from the foundation wall and installing brackets below the footing. Next, the push piers were hydraulically driven through the brackets until they hit bedrock (stable soil under the ground). The weight of the home was then carefully transferred from the piers back into its original position. To finish the project, Mike and his crew backfilled the hole and replaced the soil. Basement Waterproofing in Alden, MN

A homeowner in Alden, MN was frustrated with his basement space after the heavy rainfall that had been occurring. He had recently gone downstairs and found damp walls and wet floors, which had caused damage to the space already. He decided to take action and look for a service that could help waterproof his basement. Online he searched "leaking basement repair near me" and found the American Waterworks company website. He was impressed by our past jobs done and with the positive customer reviews, so he signed up for one of our FREE no-obligation estimates. When Design Specialist Dylan Woitas arrived at the home, he inspected the entire basement area and prepared his recommendations. Dylan suggested some of our quality waterproofing products be installed so the homeowner wouldn't have to deal with this problem again. The homeowner agreed and the plans were set for installations. Our Foreman, Lane Schlobohm, and his crew went to the site and began the project by jackhammering channels along the perimeter of the basement. They placed drainage stone inside followed by the WaterGuard drain system and more clean stone. Next, they installed a new TripleSafe sump pump to efficiently pump incoming water up and out of the home. They fastened CleanSpace over the walls to act as a barrier between the basement walls and the rest of the space in case water leaked in. The crew finally poured a layer of concrete on top of the WaterGuard and around the TripleSafe pump to keep out dirt and debris. The homeowner was impressed with the work that was done and happy to know his basement was fully waterproofed to protect the basement.

Failing Basement Walls Get Stabilized in Albert Lea, MN

An Albert Lea, MN, homeowner was down in her basement one day when she noticed a large crack running lengthwise on one of her walls. She was worried about what this could mean for her basement, so she decided to begin to search for structural foundation repair near Albert Lea, MN. When she found the American Waterworks website, she decided to sign up for her FREE estimate, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Ryan M, headed out to the property.

Ryan completed his inspection estimate, paying close attention to the failing basement wall. When he finished, he was ready to deliver his recommendations. Ryan began informing the homeowner that Foundation walls are designed to support loads from above, not from the side. When side pressure on your walls exceeds their ability to withstand the force, they will begin to crack, bow, slide in at the bottom, and/or tilt in at the top. Rebuilding damaged walls may seem like the obvious (and expensive) answer, but even new walls will fail if the soil conditions are not changed. Ryan wanted to use our GeoLock wall anchors, which can counteract soil pressure by anchoring walls to stable, undisturbed soil outside your home. Thanks to threaded rods that extend through the wall, wall anchors can even be used to straighten walls in many cases! The homeowner agreed with Ryan's recommendation, and the job was scheduled for several weeks later.

On the day of the installation, our Production crew arrived bright and early at the property. Led by their Foreman, Lane S, the crew successfully installed 5 of our GeoLock anchors on the failing basement wall. Now, our customer can breathe easier knowing that her foundation issues have been handled.
