Vern K. in Plainview, MN noticed a musty smell coming from his crawl space. When he looked for what was causing the smell, he noticed that there was a lot of moisture in his crawl space. He was concerned about the air quality of his home and about the potential damage the moisture could cause.

He saw one of our advertisements on TV and saw that we are able to waterproof and encapsulate crawl spaces. He wanted to have a professional look at it so he gave us a call and we sent one of our Design Specialists, Dustin Loftus, to his home to do a free onsite estimate and create a solution to his problem.

Our production team installed a full perimeter of rim joist insulation which seals the rim joists and lowers Vern's energy costs. They also installed drainage matting and our CleanSpace vapor barrier. The combination of these crawl space waterproofing and encapsulation products turned Vern's crawl space into a dry, clean and energy efficient part of the house.

A current customer from Plainview, MN had several of our products installed throughout the basement of her home. During one of her annual maintenance visits, one of our Service Technicians expressed concern that her home might be subject to Radon gas. He explained that this hazardous, invisible, and odorless gas was the second leading cause of lung cancer behind cigarette smoking. She agreed to have her home checked using one of our leave-behind kits. Our Service Tech, Darin, set up the kit and after 48-72 hours she sent it in to obtain the results, which came back at 5.1 pCi/L. Once her results came back, Darin explained to her that The Environmental Protection Agency recommends taking action for anything above 4 pCi/L. He went on to explain that her 1 pCi/L of Radon is equivalent to smoking 2.5 cigarettes. When she wondered what could be done, Darin suggested having a Radon Mitigation system installed. He explained to her that once the system was installed, it would work to pull Radon from the house, pipe it upwards through venting, and push it out and away from the home. She agreed with Darin's recommendation and work began shortly after. Our Foreman, Dakota, and his crew quickly and efficiently installed the system and now our customer can go back to enjoying her home without worries about toxic Radon gas pollution!

Job Stories From Plainview, MN
Water Intrusion Issue Gets Solved in Plainview, MN

A Plainview, MN, homeowner was struggling with an issue in his basement. Each time it rained, he observed tiny puddles forming in the corner of his room. He looked up basement waterproofing images online and became nervous about what the onslaught of water could do to this home. He decided to google "interior basement waterproofing near me", and eventually found our website. He decided to sign up for his FREE estimate, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Darin, headed out to the home.

Darin got right to work conducting his thorough inspection. When he finished, he met with the homeowner to go over their next steps and to form a game plan. Darin informed the homeowner that he was right to call, as water damage is usually easier and cheaper to catch early on versus further down the road after lots of damage has been done. Darin wanted to use two of our products to work together to keep the homeowner's basement dry. First, Darin recommended the installation of our WaterGuard, a unique French drain that gets installed below the floor but atop the footing of the foundation, keeping it out of the mud zone, where other drains of this nature tend to clog.  The drain works to collect water leaking from the basement wall, directing it to the proper disposal site, like a sump pump or discharge line. For the disposal site, Darin recommended our SuperSump sump pump. He explained that this pump was the perfect mix of effective and affordable, as it's engineered to help keep basements dry, even during times of heavy water intrusion. It boasts a powerful Zoeller® ⅓ horsepower cast-iron sump pump, capable of pumping 2,220 gallons of water per hour at an 8-foot head out of your basement. The homeowner liked the idea of the two products working hand in hand and decided to schedule his project for a month later.

On the day of the installation, our product crew, led by their Foreman, Kiko, headed out to the home to begin the project. First, they dug a trench around the perimeter of the basement for the placement of the sump. At the same time, they excavated a section of the basement for the placement of the sump pump. Next, one part of Kiko's team got to work laying the WaterGuard in the trench, while the other half built and installed the sump pump. Next, they covered the WaterGuard with a fresh layer of drainage stone and connected the WaterGuard to the SuperSump. To finish off the project, they covered the WaterGuard in a fresh layer of concrete to keep it in place. Now, our customer can enjoy his basement without worrying about stepping in any puddles!

Jagged Driveway Leveled in Plainview, MN

A homeowner in Plainview, MN, noticed their driveway had significantly dropped from their garage floor. Instead of letting the issue worsen, the homeowner knew they needed professional assistance. The homeowner heard of a new way to lift sunken concrete, PolyLevel. After hearing about this product, the homeowner began looking into companies that offer this service. One of the first companies to show up was us, American Waterworks since they were so close to the Plainview. The homeowner knew we were a reputable company, so they called our Appointment Center and signed up for their FREE estimate. After the estimate was finalized, one of our Design Specialists, Nate, drove to the home to complete the inspection. Nate arrived and the homeowner showed him where the troublesome areas were. After Nate took a closer look, he determined that it was sinking due to settlement and needed to be lifted back to its original state. Nate proposed that the sidewalk be lifted and leveled with our PolyLevel solution. Additionally, Nate recommended taking out the old joints and replacing them with the NexusPro solution. The homeowner liked Nate's plan, so they decided to go ahead with his recommendations. Next, Nate passed along his plans to our office and then they were sent to our Foreman, Patrick. Once Patrick received the plans, he and his crew traveled to the home to start the PolyLevel installation. First, the crew inserted PolyLevel underneath the driveway and sidewalk. PolyLevel is a polyurethane foam injection solution that restores the appearance and safety of the concrete. The crew started by strategically drilling small holes throughout the slab. Then, the crew inserts ports into those small holes. Next, the polyurethane foam is injected beneath the concrete to fill voids and raise the slabs. Finally, the holes and control joints are sealed. Once the PolyLevel injection was finished, the crew shifted their focus to filling the cracks and replacing the joints. The crew utilized NexusPro Sealant, a silicone-based sealant for joints and cracks formulated to provide long-lasting flexibility and withstand harsh weather conditions. The crew begins by drilling, smoothing, and preparing the non-absorbent backer rod filler. Then, the NexusPro sealant is inserted in the prepared crack or control joint. Finally, the cracks are detailed with a thin layer of native sand, giving the concrete a uniform, finished appearance. After all the products were installed, the crew cleaned up their materials and left the home. The homeowner was pleased with the job well done by the crew.
