Following a heavy rainstorm, a homeowner in Postville, IA, had a hunch they needed to inspect their basement. The homeowner grew alarmed after discovering finding several water spots and stains throughout their basement. We sent one of our Iowa-based Design Specialists, Brady, to the home and inspect the struggling basement. Brady arrived at the home, introduced himself to the homeowner, and began his thorough investigation of the basement. During his investigation, Brady discovered the foundation was weakening, which was contributing to the flood issues. Once Brady found the problem, he was able to provide them with a solution that would repair the issues. The homeowners agreed with Brady's proposal, so he passed the plans along to our office to build the project. Once built, the project proposal was sent to our Foreman, Juan, and his crew to begin production. Juan and his crew arrived at the home and started the project by installing the WaterGuard system. The WaterGuard is a below-floor drain that rests in a bed of drainage stone on top of the foundation footing. The crew installs the WaterGuard by digging channels around the perimeter of the basement floor. Once the channels are dug, the crew can go ahead and place the drainage stone in the channels. The WaterGuard is then placed on top of the stone and covered with cement. Once the WaterGuard is in place, the crew could shift their focus to removing the old sump pump and replacing it with the TripleSafe. The crew installed a feedline across the floor to connect the TripleSafe to the new WaterGuard. Next, the crew shifted their focus to installing GeoLock Wall Anchors to the basement wall. The crew installs the GeoLocks by digging a section of the ground to place the first GeoLock anchor. Once the GeoLock is in place, another anchor is attached to the interior wall. Both GeoLocks are connected by a small, steel pole direct through the ground. Once the GeoLocks are secured, the soil is put back on top of the ground. Along with the GeoLock installation, the homeowner asked that the tightening kit be included as well. This will allow the homeowner to straighten their walls over time. Finally, the crew cleaned up their materials and left the home. The homeowner was relieved to know their basement was properly waterproofed and stabilized. Our Foreman, Kiko Pena, and his production crew began the installation by breaking out the concrete perimeter of the basement room to form a trench. In the trench, our crew installed our WaterGuard System, which is made to prevent water clogs and collect leaking water from basement walls. Next, our team applied our CleanSpace Wall System around the wall perimeter, which is designed to prevent any humidity or mold development from invading the basement. Lastly, our crew installed our TripleSafe Sump Pump System, which is the best sump pump in our market and provides three levels of protection. To complete the project, Kiko and his crew covered the open gaps with rock and replaced the concrete.
