Basement Reinforced and Waterproofed In Danube, MN

Basement Reinforced and Waterproofed In Danube, MN

Basement Reinforced and Waterproofed In Danube, MN Basement Reinforced and Waterproofed In Danube, MN

Todd and Wendie, of Danube, MN, were having significant issues with their damp basement space with cracking and bowing walls. They decided to call American Waterworks for a FREE estimate, and shortly after the appointment was scheduled, our Design Specialist, Shane, headed out to the property.

Following the consultation and proposed solutions of waterproofing and foundation support, Todd scheduled an appointment for installation.

Our Foreman Luis and his production crew started the installation by implementing both our PowerBrace Wall System and our GeoLock Wall Anchors to correct the issues with the foundation. 7 PowerBraces and 11 GeoLocks were installed. The PowerBrace system is an I-shaped beam that stabilizes and helps straighten the bow of the wall over time. The PowerBrace system is drilled into the home's support beams and the concrete, on which the home lies. The Geolock system permanently stabilizes foundation walls by anchoring them to the hard-packed virgin soil beyond the foundation.

Next, the crew started breaking out the concrete floor perimeter, and forming a trench. In the trench, our team installed our WaterGuard System. Our WaterGuard is a patented below-floor drain that rests in a bed of drainage on top of the foundation footing. It is our most commonly used drain system because of its resistance to water clogs, its easy-to-access service ports, and its ability to collect leaking water from basement walls. They also installed our TripleSafe Sump Pump System. The TripleSafe Sump Pump System has three levels of protection to solve all water problems a homeowner, may experience. Along with the TripleSafe Sump Pump is a battery backup that helps in cases where power is lost in a home, then the battery will keep the pumps draining any excess water build-up. To complete the WaterGuard project, Luis and his team covered the open gaps with rock and replaced the concrete.

The team then proceeded to install the CleanSpace wall System around the perimeter of the basement. Our CleanSpace Wall System is attached to the walls with plastic fasteners so it never falls. It also prevents any humidity from invading the walls and gives the basement and clean and bright appearance with a 25-year-warranty.

The couple was pleased with the outcome and glad they made the decision to work with American Waterworks.

Cracked Foundation in Renville, MN Restored in Preparation to Sell

A home in Renville, MN that was owned by a bank had major structural issues due to a cracked foundation wall. The bank wanted to put the home on the market, but they knew they would need to have it repaired before doing so. After researching foundation repair contractors, they decided that American Waterworks was the best fit for the project. We sent a Design Specialist to the home to meet with a representative from the bank. Our Specialist inspected the home and determined that we could permanently repair the foundation by installing wall anchors. The bank agreed with the proposal, so the project was scheduled.

Our production crew installed the anchors by drilling small holes through the damaged foundation wall in the basement. Then, they inserted long metal rods that went into the soil surrounding the home. They had dug small holes in the yard that lined up with the rods so that they could secure them with anchor plates. After the rods were secured from both ends, the crew tightened them as far as they could go. The wall became stable and started to straighten immediately after the installation. The bank was pleased with how smooth the process went, and the home was ready to sell.

High Levels of Radon Mitigated in Bird Island, MN

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that we cannot see, smell, taste or touch, therefore it can easily go unnoticed. Erin from Bird Island, MN learned that radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in the United States, and she realized that she had not yet had her home tested! She contacted American Waterworks to have her home tested for radon and the results showed 4 pCi/l, which is the required action level for mitigation set by the EPA. After learning that her home had dangerous levels of radon, she set a date to have our mitigation system installed.

Our radon mitigation experts drilled a small hole through the concrete floor in the basement to create a suction point for the radon. They inserted PVC piping into the hole and ran the pipe up the wall and out of the house. They installed a fan halfway up the PCV pipe to ensure that the radon gas would be pushed up and away from the home. The installation was minimally invasive and only took half a day to complete. Erin is glad that she chose to make her home much healthier by installing our radon mitigation system.

A homeowner in Bird Island, MN, looked for professional guidance regarding the growing cracks in their foundation walls. Although they had many foundation repair options around them, the homeowners chose to work with us, American Waterworks. The homeowners contacted our Appointment Center and set up their FREE estimate. Soon after the appointment was set, we sent our Design Specialist, Ryan, to inspect the walls. Following his inspection, Ryan determined the basement showed signs of settlement and needed to be permanently stabilized. Ryan proposed to the homeowners that we can install Geo-Locks and CarbonArmor on their basement walls.  The homeowners agreed to Ryan's proposal and the plans were sent to the assigned crew.
