Rochester, MN Basement Waterproofing, Foundation repair, and Crawl Space Repair

Water that makes its way into a basement or crawlspace can cause significant damage to Rochester, MN homes. The most common way for water to get into these spaces is by seeping through cracks found in the foundation of a building. Water can even work its way up into a home through openings made for pipes and vents.

Moisture promotes mold growth, and mold is known to cause serious health issues for occupants of a home. Water damage to furniture and flooring can be costly to repair, so it is recommended that Rochester, MN residents be proactive about protecting their homes from water by opting for basement waterproofing services.

Homeowners who are already facing the damage caused by water, settling soils, and other issues can also contact American Waterworks for foundation and crawl space repair services.

Dry out your basement with confidence

While your basement is lined with concrete to help keep moisture out, the soil that is directly below and around your basement contains water that can seep into your home through cracks in the floor and walls.

Many Rochester, MN contractors utilize methods that only work temporarily or come with a high cost. Some of these methods include:

  • Excavation: This method requires the use of a backhoe and involves scooping out the moist soil located around a home. A drainage system is then installed to reduce moisture around the basement. This is a costly, time-consuming method.
  • Interior Drainage: The basement floor needs to be removed for this system to be put in place. Flooring is then relaid on top of the drainage system. A major problem associated with interior drainage is the fact that it can become clogged.
  • Interior Sealants: While this method involves lower costs, exposure to moisture can cause sealants to break down over time.

American Waterworks provides basement waterproofing services to clients in the Rochester, MN area. We use the WaterGuard System to provide exceptional results when it comes to keeping moisture out of your home. This proven system has been developed by the Basement Systems network.

We also install a wide variety of other Basement Systems products, including sump pumps, dehumidifiers, basement wall options, and much, much more! No matter what water problem you're facing, we have the appropriate basement waterproofing solution.

Job Stories From Rochester, MN
Sunken Garage Floor Raised in Rochester, MN

A homeowner from Rochester, MN, had been dealing with a sunken garage floor for some time. Now, the issue was worsening to the point of resulting in large cracks running the length of the garage. The homeowner no longer wished to with the issue, so he began to look for a contractor offering concrete lifting in Rochester, MN. When he found our website, he perused through other projects in the area and was impressed with the results. He signed up for his FREE estimate, and several weeks later, Will R, was heading to the home.

Will inspect all of the concrete in front of the home. When he finished, he informed the homeowner that sunken concrete is quite common and can occur for a variety of reasons. Regardless of the reason, Will stated that we could save the sinking concrete with the help of our PolyLevel injection, a polyurethane foam that expands when it's injected beneath concrete slabs. It slowly fills voids left by soil erosion and lifts concrete back to its original location in the process. Will went on to say that, in comparison to other methods, PolyLevel is cheaper, less invasive, and less time-consuming. He then went on to say that he recommended safeguarding the lift with the help of our NexusPro. This silicone-based sealant gets applied to the cracks and joints in the newly lifted concrete and serves as a barrier against harsh weather conditions. The homeowner liked the sound of Will's plan and scheduled the installation for several weeks later.

On the day of the project, our team arrived bright and early. Led by their Foreman, Dylon V, were able to lift and seal the garage floor without issues. Now, our customer can rest easy knowing his garage wouldn't be sinking any further!

Sinking Concrete Steps in Rochester, MN

A homeowner from Rochester, MN, got in contact with us when she began to notice that her front concrete steps and concrete patio were beginning to separate, creating a trip hazard. Not wanting the issue to worsen, she decided to research companies in the area that offer concrete repair services. After finding a few options online, she decided to give American Waterworks a call and claim her FREE estimate. A few weeks later, our Design Specialist, Nate, headed out to her home to see what could be done. Once he completed his inspection he informed the homeowner that while the problem may seem large, the fix could be fairly simple and non-invasive. Nate explained that American Waterworks utilizes the most modern and effective lifting solution, PolyLevel, a polyurethane foam that expands when it's injected underneath sinking concrete slabs, slowly lifting the slabs back into place. He went on to say that as an added layer of protection, our team then installs our NexusPro, a silicone-based sealant that gets applied to the joints and cracks in the concrete to prevent any unwanted elements from getting underneath the slab, potentially compromising the lift. The homeowner was delighted to know that the fix was simple and agreed with Nate's recommendations.

A few weeks later, on the morning of the project, our Foreman, Jordan, and his team arrived at the home and got to work by verifying the measurements Nate had left behind. Then, he began drilling holes into the concrete slab. Next, he pumped the PolyLevel through the dime-sized holes, carefully monitoring the lifting process to ensure no over-correction was made. When the lift was finished, he went around the perimeter of the concrete and applied our NexusPro. When the project was finished, our customer was relieved to know she no longer had to worry about separating concrete!

Sinking Walkway Gets a Lift in Rochester, MN

A homeowner from Rochester, MN, got in touch with us when she began to notice her concrete walkway separating from the stoop that leads to her front door. Having taken a few tumbles on the uneven concrete herself, she wanted to have the situation corrected to prevent further spills. After doing some digging, she came across our website and decided to sign up for her FREE estimate, and a few weeks later our Sales Manager, Jesse, stopped out at the house to see what could be done.

Jesse took his time evaluating the sinking slab, took measurements, and checked other areas of the concrete surrounding the house. When he completed his inspection, he informed the homeowner that sinkage in concrete is normal and could occur for various reasons. He went on to say that the fix is fairly simple, stating that our team would use our PolyLevel Lifting Solution to address the issue. Our PolyLevel is a polyurethane foam that expands when it is injected under sunken concrete slabs, pushing it upward and back to its original position. After the stoop has been lifted, our team will apply our NexusPro, a silicone-based sealant that gets applied to all cracks and joints on the concrete to ensure nothing gets below the slab, compromising the lift. The homeowner agreed and the work was scheduled.

On the day of the installation, our Foreman, Troy, began the process by verifying the areas of concern with the homeowner. Next, he strategically drilled holes into the sunken slab. Then, he inserted the PolyLevel into the holes, closely monitoring the lifting process to ensure no over/under correction was made. He finished by lining all of the cracks and joints with our NexusPro. Now our customer is thrilled to know she no longer needs to worry about trip hazards!

Nonetheless, he assured our customer we could fix it. He recommended the use of our PolyLevel solution, saying that it is the most modern and effective way to correct sinking concrete. The drainage system now properly guides water to the sump pump and from there, the sump pump pushes the water through the discharge line and expels it from the home. Our waterproofing system is backed by a lifetime warranty, so Jennifer has peace of mind that she chose the right solution to protect her basement for the long-term.

Rochester, MN Home with Large Crack in Exterior Brick Wall

Eric O. in Rochester, MN had a sunken porch that caused a large crack in the brick on the front of his home. Although it wasn’t hindering his foundation yet, it wasn’t aesthetically pleasing, and it bothered him that his porch was uneven. He discovered American Waterworks and was interested to learn more about our concrete repair, so he called us for a free estimate and we sent one of our Design Specialists, Don Mancilman, to his home to assess the situation and find a solution. Don was able to design a plan to raise his stoop which would in turn close the gap in the brick wall. Eric liked Don’s proposal, so they set a date for the concrete to be repaired.

One of our concrete repair experts, Brandon Wiskow, drilled small holes into his porch to inject the PolyLevel foam. Next, he injected the foam until the slab was raised and leveled, which closed the crack in the brick wall. PolyLevel is a faster, durable and more affordable alternative to traditional concrete repair. The process is non-invasive and only took a couple of hours to complete. Eric is glad he found a concrete repair solution that was the right fit for him. He is glad he will now be able to enjoy a raised and level stoop for years to come.
