Radon Mitigated in Buffalo, MN

A homeowner in Buffalo, MN, recently learned that radon is a highly toxic gas that can be found in households. He learned that radon is a by-product of uranium, a naturally occurring radioactive element that can be found in soil. As the soil decays, it releases radon. Concerned that his family is unknowingly breathing in the toxic fumes, he decided to purchase a radon testing kit. After several days, the test results were above 4pCi/L and the homeowner began searching for radon mitigation services in the area. He found our website and decided to contact us to schedule his FREE estimate.

In a couple of weeks, our Design Specialist, Tony B., arrived at the home to answer any questions the homeowner had and to create a design where our radon mitigation system would be installed. After the homeowner reviewed Tony's proposal, he decided to move forward with the project.

In two months, our Foreman, Dakota M., and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. They began by installing a PVC pipe at the footing of the home. This would then connect to the radon mitigation system that is installed outside of the home. This is done this way so that our system can suction out the radon-rich air before it can get into the home and spew it outdoors. Once the crew was done, they cleaned up their equipment and left the home.

Now, our customer and his family can breathe fresh clean air! When was the last time you tested the radon levels of your home? Schedule your FREE estimate today by clicking HERE!

High Levels of Radon Gas Eliminated from Mound, MN, Home

A homeowner from Mound, MN, had recently learned about the dangers of radon gas. Not wanting his household to be exposed for longer than necessary, he looked into Minnesota radon specialists, and quickly found American Waterworks. He was impressed with our pictures of radon mitigation systems we had installed in his area and decided to sign up for his FREE estimate.

Several weeks later, Kyle P, one of our Design Specialists, was headed to the home. The first part of Kyle's inspection included placing a continuous radon monitoring test in the home's lowest level. The goal of this test is to record radon levels in the home over some time, delivering an average result after the 48-hour test. Then, Kyle went about the rest of his inspection, meeting up with the customer after he finished. Kyle began by commending the homeowner for having their home tested. Kyle gave some background on radon gas and why homeowners should be concerned, stating that radon is a radioactive gas that is emitted as the soil surrounding your home breaks down. It enters the home through small holes and cracks in the foundation and is odorless, colorless, and tasteless, making it an invisible threat to the lining of your lungs. Radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer, right behind cigarette smoking, claiming 21,000 lives annually. The only way to combat this dangerous gas? Have your home regularly tested and mitigated if a professional advises you to do so. Kyle finished by stating that the EPA recommends mitigating a home at 4 pCi/L or higher, so if the results returned higher than that, he would strongly urge the homeowner to consider a radon mitigation systemA typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. The homeowner agreed with Kyle's plan but decided to wait for the results of the test to return. Several days later, Kyle was back out at the home to read the results, which returned well above 4 pCi/L so the homeowner and Kyle found a good day for the system to be installed.

The project date rolled around and our Foreman, Dakota M, and his team were able to place the system on the exterior of the home. Now, our customer has renewed faith in the air circulating his home!

High Radon Levels in Shakopee, MN Mitigated

A homeowner in Shakopee, MN, recently found a social media post that discusses the dangerous health risks of radon. The homeowner learned that radon is a gas that is produced as the soil decays, which makes it completely unavoidable for homeowners. The difficult thing about radon is that we cannot smell, touch, see, hear, or taste it, making it undetectable unless using a radon testing kit. Concerned that his family was unknowingly breathing in the toxic fumes, the homeowner began searching for radon mitigation in the area and contacted us to schedule his FREE estimate.

In about a week, our Design Specialist, Gary S., arrived at the home to provide a thorough inspection, answer any questions, and provide the best solution for the homeowner. Gary began the inspection by playing our continuous radon monitoring test, which would be placed at the lowest level of the home. Gary explained that this test would need to run for at least 48 hours so that it can accurately detect the radon levels in the home. He also stated that even if the results were not at dangerous levels, it was always good to test the radon levels every 2-5 years. Alongside this, Gary noticed that the moisture levels in the basement were high and also recommended our Aprilaire Dehumidifier. In about a week, the test results were above 4pCi/L, and the homeowner contacted Gary to have our radon mitigation system and dehumidifier installed.

In a couple of weeks, our Foreman, Dakota M., and his crew arrived at the home for the installation. They installed a PVC pipe through the sump pump and connected it to the radon mitigation system, which would be installed outside of the home. In about a week, one of our Service Technicians arrived at the home to install the Aprilaire Dehumidifier.

Radon Mitigation in Austin, MN

Gary O. of Austin, MN got his house tested for radon three times, and each test result came back with 5 pCi/L, which is higher than the danger level. He found American Waterworks online, so he did some research on our website and called our office line to schedule a FREE estimate. Our Design Specialist went to Gary's home, answered all of his questions, and drew up a plan for where to install our Radon Mitigation System. Gary was confident in Michel's proposal and our map lay-out, so he followed through with the project and got a date scheduled for the installation.

Our Foreman, Geno, and his crew member, Dakota, began the process by introducing themselves to Gary and his wife and ensured all of their questions were answered. After a clear introduction, our crew got to work and drilled a hole in the basement concrete floor to form a suction point. Next, our team connected PVC piping from the suction point up through the second floor to the attic, where our team installed the Radon Mitigation System. From the system, our crew formed a hole in the ceiling of the attic, leading to the roof, where the radon was able to escape the home. Gary said he had a great experience and provided a testimonial, where you can view HERE

Radon Gas Mitigated in Austin, MN

A homeowner from Austin, MN, had recently learned about the dangers of radon gas and the risks it poses to households. She was concerned that radon gas could be in the air she and her family were breathing, so she decided to find a Minnesota radon mitigation specialist who could help. On the recommendation of a friend, he decided to sign up for one of our FREE estimates, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist was headed out to the home.

When he arrived, he got right to work placing a continuous radon monitoring system, which works to collect radon levels in the home, reporting the average level after a certain time. Our Design Specialist explained that if the levels of radon came back higher than 4 pCi/Ls, he would recommend the installation of a radon mitigation systemA typical radon mitigation system consists of a large-diameter plastic pipe that connects the air beneath your foundation to the outdoors. An in-line fan sucks radon-rich air from beneath your foundation and expels this hazardous air to the exterior. Instead of entering your basement or other living space area through numerous gaps and cracks in the foundation, radon gas is extracted from beneath your foundation before it can permeate into interior space. When installed by an experienced radon mitigation specialist, a radon abatement system will lower the concentration of radon gas in your interior air to the minimal levels recommended by the EPA and other health and safety agencies. The homeowner agreed with our Design Specialists plan, but decided to wait until the levels returned to make a choice. Several days later, the results returned, indicating higher-than-normal levels of radon in the home. The homeowner called our Design Specialist to schedule the installation.

On the day of the project, our Foreman, Geno M, and his team were able to successfully install the system. Now, our customer has peace of mind knowing that only the healthiest air is circulating in her home!
