A homeowner in Milnor, ND, noticed odd sounds from their basement. After further investigation, the homeowner discovered the sounds were coming from their sump pump. Worried about the long-term effects, the homeowners knew they needed to find an expert solution. Unsure who to work with, the homeowner began looking into sump pump replacements and companies that provide those services. During their investigation, the homeowner came across our website. Interested in our waterproofing services, the homeowner was impressed with our elite waterproofing products. Additionally, our Radon Mitigation Systems caught the homeowner's eye. Since they were already on our website, the homeowner decided to sign up for their FREE estimate. After the estimate was set, the homeowner prepared for the arrival of Ian, one of our Design Specialists. Ian made his way to the home and began his thorough investigation of the basement. During his investigation, Ian confirmed the basement required repairs. Additionally, Ian tested the home's radon level and found that it was alarmingly high. Ian recommended installing a Radon Mitigation System to lower the levels. Knowing this was their best option, the homeowner agreed with Ian's recommendations. Next, the plans were passed along to our Logisitcs team to approve the plans. Once the plans were approved, the proposal was assigned to our Radon Sales and Service Technician, Jackson. Jackson received the plans and traveled to Milnor to begin the project. First, Jackson installed additional parts to the struggling sump pump. Next, Jackson shifted his focus to installing the Radon Mitigation System. By installing a Radon Mitigation System, it will lower the concentration of radon gas in your home to the minimal levels recommended by the EPA. Jackson installed the entire system on the inside and outside of the home. Once all the products were secured, Jackson cleaned up his materials and left the home. The homeowner was relieved to know their home's radon levels were lowered and at the proper levels. American Waterworks is happy to provide their homeowners peace of mind knowing their radon risk is eliminated.
Sandra, from Forman, ND had started noticing water finding its way into her basement. She suspected leaky walls were the cause and wanted to fix the issue before there was any serious damage done. She researched companies in the area providing the services she was looking for and found our company. When she called in, she was able to take advantage of her FREE estimate, and a few weeks later our Design Specialist, Richie, headed out to the property to complete his inspection. Once he concluded, he was able to make recommendations as to how we could help Sandra. First, Richie wanted to use our TripleSafe Sump Pump to help relieve the basement of heavy water intrusion. He explained that our TripleSafe is our most reliable sump pump system, the TripleSafe Sump Pump System provides three levels of protection for your basement and your peace of mind. Richie also wanted to use our CleanSpace as he found that water was entering through cracks in the wall. He explained that the CleanSpace is a 100% waterproof tarp that gets tact to the wall and works to catch water entering through holes or cracks, directing it down to our WaterGuard. Richie's third recommendation. Richie went on to say that our WaterGuard is a below-floor drain that works to catch the water being redirected by the CleanSpace, leading it to the TripleSafe and keeping it off the floor of the basement. Sandra agreed with Richie's solutions and work began a few months later.
Our Foreman, Cameron, and his team installed 50 ft of our WaterGuard, 50 ft of CleanSpace, and 1 TripleSafe pump. Now Sandra can enjoy her basement without worrying about water intrusion!
Brandon and Brandi, from Grygla, MN, were growing more concerned over the state of their wet crawl space. If a crawl space begins to rot, grow mold, or experience structural problems, issues can extend to all parts of the home. They wanted to understand why it was happening, ensure the issue was corrected, and restore peace of mind. After deciding on our company, we set them up with a FREE inspection. A few weeks later, our Design Specialist headed out to the property. Once he completed his walkthrough, he recommended how American Waterworks could help. Our customers agreed with the recommendations, and work began shortly after.
Our team installed the recommended drainage matting, a dimpled matting that gets installed onto the crawl space floor, giving any excess water a route to flow through the space and be disposed of at an external site such as a drain or a sump system. Next, the crew permanently waterproofed the space by installing our SmartPipe and Drain Tile drainage system. The next step was to install our CleanSpace vapor barrier to address water entering through the wall. CleanSpace is a 100% waterproof plastic barrier installed right onto the problem walls and works to catch water entering the space through cracks and holes in the wall. This also reduces the home's chances of being exposed to radon. The drainage system now correctly guides water to the Super Sump Plus pump, and from there, the sump pump pushes the water through the discharge line and expels it from the home. Brandon and Brandi were grateful for the support and guidance of American Waterworks in protecting their home!
Laurie and Darrell of Hendrum, MN, were concerned with the state of their basement, as cracks appeared on the floor and the wall. These were signs of the wall heaving upward, which Is a result of the upward movement of a foundation or slab caused by underlying soils that expand or swell. This occurs due to an increase in moisture or by freezing forces. The couple was referred to our team by a realtor, so our office staff contacted them and scheduled a FREE Estimate with our Design Specialist, Kole. Kole went to their house to inspect the cracks and devise a solution. The customers were comfortable with the proposal and got all of their questions answered, so they went ahead with the project.
Our Foreman and his team began the installation by breaking out the concrete perimeter of the basement floor, forming a trench. In the trench, our team installed our WaterGuard System, designed to collect water seepage from basement wall cracks, prevent water clogs, and serve as an underground drain leading to the outside of the home. To complete the installation, our crew covered the open gaps with rock and applied new concrete over the rock and WaterGuard. Next, our crew installed our SuperSump Pump, a sump pump designed to keep basements clean and dry for long periods, especially during heavy thunderstorms or flooding. Then, they installed a discharge line from the sump pump to our IceGuard System outside of the home. The IceGuard is a waterproofing system that provides an extra block of protection against basement flooding, especially when freezing temperatures are problematic.
The team also installed 13 GeoLock Anchors (6 on the South wall and seven on the North) by digging holes outside the home and installing a metal rod in each hole going through the foundation. After installing a metal rod, they proceeded to attach one of the GeoLock Anchors to the end of the rod, allowing the wall to be pulled back to its original position. Over time, these anchors may be tightened to ensure the rods are effective and stabilize the home's structure. After the installation, the production crew backfilled the holes and replaced the soil to its original look. Laurie and Darrell loved the new and improved basement and are happy that the foundation of their home is no longer in any danger!
Wayne, a homeowner in Hendrum, MN, was concerned about the state of his crawlspace. The space had a floor joist cut through while the plumbing was installed in the bathroom, causing the floor to settle. After looking at what American Waterworks does, he scheduled a FREE Estimate with our Design Specialist, Kole. Kole went to the home to inspect the problem and devise a solution. Following a thorough examination, Kole recommended that Wayne invest in our crawl space support posts. Specifically, Kole shared about our SmartJack Crawl Space Support System. Wayne was confident in the solution presented, so he proceeded with the project.
Our crew, led by our Fargo Field Supervisor, Corey, headed to the property shortly after and got to work. First, they installed a 6' supplemental support beam. To be stable, strong and level, the floor above a crawl space requires solid mid-span support, usually provided by a post-and-beam assembly. Next, the crew installed 2 1'-3' SmartJacks. The SmartJack® system supports sagging and undersized beams, restoring stability and straightness to sagging floor joists in a crawl space. Once installed in your crawl space, SmartJack® support posts can correct problems such as sloping and overly springy floors, interior wall cracks, and out-of-level door frames. Because of the design, it can be adjusted over time to provide additional straightening and leveling action if necessary. Finally, even though the crawlspace was already encapsulated, our team needed to notch some out for the SmartJacks, which meant that we also patched up the clean space to leave it better than we found it! Wayne was satisfied with the project and was grateful we could assist him with his home repair needs!
