Sinking Deck Gets Piers in Rochester, MN

A Rochester, MN, homeowner had noticed his attached porch was showing signs of sinking over time. Not wanting to have to re-install the porch later down the road, the homeowner began to look for a company that could help. One day, the homeowner was at the Rochester Home & Lifestyles home show, when he met Brad W, one of our local Design Specialists. The two got to chatting about the issue, and the homeowner signed up for his FREE estimate on the spot. A few weeks later, Brad headed out to the home to see what could be done.

After a thorough inspection, Brad met with the homeowner to discuss next steps and his recommendations. Brad informed the homeowner that American Waterworks could effectively reverse the problem with the help of our helical piers. Brad explained that the helical pier owes its name to the helical plates welded to the pier shaft. These plates help to pull the pier into the soil during installation and provide anchoring strength as the weight of the foundation or structural element is transferred to the pier. These piers are mechanically advanced into the soil using small construction equipment or hand equipment. As they are installed to appropriate depths and capacities, they prevent any future settlement issues. In many scenarios, these piers will be able to lift your home back to level position by the completion of the installation. The homeowner liked the sound of Brad's plan, and the work was scheduled for several weeks later.

On the day of the project, our Foreman, Matt Z, and his team installed 4 of our helical piers in no time. Now our customer can continue to enjoy his porch for years to come!

Push Piers Restore Foundation in Rochester, MN

Nathan U. in Rochester, MN had our waterproofing system installed in his home. During one of his annual maintenance appointments our Senior Service Technician, Ben McKee, noticed his garage floor was uneven, and he feared the problem was only going to get worse. After a thorough inspection, he was able to recommend our Foundation Push Pier System to provide a permanent solution to the settlement issue. Nathan was impressed with Ben’s evaluation and the products presented, and he moved forward with the project.

Our Foreman, Matt Zeller, and his production crew started the installation by digging out the soil surrounding the home where the foundation was settling. Then, they installed heavy-duty steel brackets below the footing of the foundation. Next, rugged, interlocking steel pier sections are hydraulically driven through the bracket until bedrock or stable soil is reached. The weight of the home is then transferred through the piers to load-bearing soil. Lastly, the crew installed our SentrySeal membrane to seal off any cracks and prevent water from entering the basement. They replaced the soil and cleaned up their work area. Nathan is glad he chose to invest in the stability of his home, and we are glad we could restore his peace of mind!

Our Foreman, Tremaine, and his crew installed four of our wall anchors along the foundation wall. This wall anchor system permanently stabilizes foundation walls by anchoring the walls to the compacted soil, enabling the wall to straighten back to its natural position.

Failing Wall Addressed in Rochester, MN

A Rochester, MN, homeowner was down in his basement doing laundry one evening when he noticed a large crack running the length of the basement. Worried about what this could mean for the structural integrity of the home, he decided to find a foundation repair company in Rochester, MN. He quickly found American Waterworks and signed up for his FREE estimate.

Several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Ross J, was headed out to the home. When Ross arrived, he got right to work assessing the foundation of the home. When he finished, he met with the homeowner. He began by informing the homeowner that foundation walls are not designed to withstand pressure on the side of the wall. So when the pressure exceeds what the wall can withstand, it's not uncommon for homeowners to see bowing, cracking, tilting inward at the top, and/or sliding in at the bottom of the wall. For this reason, Ross wanted to use our GeoLock wall anchors. These anchos counteract the pressure being put on the wall by anchoring it to the undisturbed, hard-packed soil beyond the foundation of the home. The homeowner was thrilled with Ross's explanation and solution, and signed on the spot.

A month or so later, our team was on their way to install the anchors. Our Foreman, Jesus C, and his team effortlessly installed 9 of our GeoLock anchors in the basement of the home. Now, our homeowner can confidently continue their everyday lives, knowing that their foundation is stable.

A few days later, Ryan arrived at the home and began the thorough inspection of the interior and exterior foundation. During his walk-through, Ryan confirmed the foundation as compromised by settlement. To prevent the issue from continuing, Ryan recommended installing GeoLock Wall Anchors on the suffering wall. Knowing this was their best plan of action, the homeowner decided to go ahead with Ryan's recommendations. Next, Ryan passed the proposal to our Logistics team to build and schedule the project. Once the project details were confirmed, our Logistics team scheduled the project for the following month. The project date arrived, so our Foreman, Chris, and his crew traveled to the home to begin the installation. First, Chris and his crew made sure the walls were ready. Next, Chris and his crew shifted to installing the GeoLock Wall Anchors. Chris and his crew installed five GeoLock Wall Anchors on the south wall.
