Crawl Space Gets Sealed in Plymouth, MN

A homeowner from Plymouth, MN, was skimming a local shopper when she came across one of our ads that stated that properly encapsulating your crawl space could save you up to 20% on energy bills. She knew her home had a crawl space that was rarely looked at, so she decided to sign up for one of our FREE estimates, and several weeks later, Michel R, one of our Design Specialists, headed to the home.

Michel's inspection began down in the crawl space, where he ran several tests to figure out whether or not the space was energy efficient. When he concluded, he met with the homeowner to deliver his recommendations. Michel took his time to create a plan for the homeowner. His plan began with recommending our CleanSpace vapor barrier. This 100% waterproof tarp-like material gets installed directly on the unfinished walls of the crawl space. Of its functions, the most notable is that it effectively seals off your crawl space, making it inhospitable for pests, deterring any excess water that enters the space, and making the living space more comfortable by cutting heating and cooling costs. Michel went on to say that he had found signs of water intrusion, so along with the CleanSpace, he was recommending our drainage matting. This dimpled matting is laid down on the crawl space floor underneath the CleanSpace, to give water entering the space a channel to flow freely to a disposal site. Michel noted the crawl space lacked a means of getting rid of water, so his final recommendation was our SmartDrain. The SmartDrain alerts you to a leak with an audible alarm and drains the water away to a drywall under the CleanSpace liner to protect against property damage. Running a condensation line allows for furnace or dehumidifier drainage. The homeowner was thrilled with Michel's recommendations and signed on the spot.

When the day of the installation rolled around, our Foreman, Jeromy A, and his crew wasted no time getting to work. When they had finished, they had successfully installed 306 sqft of CleanSpace, 240 sqft of Drainage Matting, and 1 SmartDrain. Now, our customer can rest comfortably, knowing that her crawl space is healthy and efficient!

Basement Wall Gets Stabilized in Minneapolis, MN

A homeowner from Minneapolis, MN was beginning to notice a large crack forming on the walls of their basement. Not wanting to risk more damage being done, they began to do their research about companies that could help with the issue. Once they came across American Waterworks, they called in and we set them up with our FREE, no-obligation estimate. A few weeks later, our Design Specialist, Rick Weber, headed out to the home to see what we could do to help. Upon completion of the inspection, Rick was ready to make his recommendations. He wanted to use our C-Channel and Geo-Lock Anchors to correct the problem. Rick explained that channel anchors are a versatile, effective system that can stabilize walls that are bowing, tipping, pushing in at the bottom, tilting in at the top, or showing similar signs of failure. They are installed with minimal disturbance to your lawn and landscaping, often in a day or less. The homeowner agreed with Rick's recommendation and work began a few weeks later.

Our Foreman, Victor, and his team installed 12 anchors throughout the basement. When the project was completed, the homeowner was happy to know they no longer had to worry about foundation failure compromising their home!

Sunken Concrete Stairs Get a Lift in Plymouth, MN

A homeowner in Plymouth, MN, was growing more and more frustrated with the concrete in front of her house. Her concrete stairs leading up to her front door were beginning to sink, creating a trip hazard and an eyesore. Not wanting to sacrifice safety or curb appeal, the homeowner decided to begin researching companies in the area that could help. When she came across our website, she decided to take advantage of our FREE estimates, and a few weeks later, our Design Specialist, Daniel R, headed out to the home.

Once Daniel completed his inspection, he met with the homeowner to give her his recommendation. He informed her that American Waterworks could address the sinking with our PolyLevel method. PolyLevel is a polyurethane foam that expands when injected beneath sinking slabs, filling voids left by soil erosion and slowly lifting concrete back into place. Daniel went on to say that we finished our lifting process with the installation of our NexusPro. A silicone-based sealant, NexusPro gets applied directly to the cracks and joints in the slab being lifted, preventing unwanted elements from permeating the slab. The homeowner agreed with the proposed work and the job was scheduled for a month later.

On the day of the installation, our Foreman, Sam K, and his team were able to complete the lift to our customer's satisfaction. Now our homeowner can rest easy knowing her curb appeal and safety have been restored!

Sunken Patio Repaired in Cleveland, MN

Dave P. in Cleveland, MN noticed his patio concrete had settled and was uneven in a couple of spots. He was unhappy with the way it looked and wanted it completely level and to have the cracks sealed. After researching concrete repair contractors and receiving estimates, he decided to have American Waterworks repair his concrete.

Our concrete repair experts drilled small holes into the concrete to inject a polymer foam called PolyLevel. Once the foam is injected into the concrete, the foam expands and raises it. They injected the foam into multiple spots in patio until the concrete was raised and level to its original position. Then, they caulked and sealed the cracks with our NexusPro sealant to protect the concrete and give it a nice, finished look. The process only took a couple of hours, and Dave was very pleased with the results!
