Waterproofing Transformation in Pine Island, MN

A homeowner in Pine Island, MN, was unhappy with the status of their basement. Unsure where the water was sneaking in, the homeowner knew they needed a professional opinion. A couple of years prior, the homeowner had us complete a FREE estimate at their home. Instead of reaching out to a new company, the homeowner contacted our Appointment Center and signed up for another FREE estimate. We sent Rick, one of our Design Specialists, to the home to evaluate the basement. Rick arrived and began his thorough inspection of the basement. Following his inspection, Rick recommended updating the basement waterproofing products. After deliberating, the homeowner decided this was the best route to take. The plans were sent to our Foreman, Lane, and his crew. Once they arrived, Lane and the crew installed the WaterGuard around the entire perimeter of the basement. After installing the WaterGuard, the crew attached CleanSpace to the basement walls. Additionally, the old sump pump was replaced with the TripleSafe Sump Pump. On the outside, the crew attached the IceGuard to the discharge line. After all the products were properly installed, the crew cleaned up their materials and left the home. The homeowner was impressed with their waterproofing transformation. American Waterworks is happy to secure another home's basement.

Driveway Leveled in Harmony, MN

A homeowner in Harmony, MN was frustrated with her driveway. Over the past few years, it had sunk quite a bit and resulted in a large gap between the top of the driveway and the garage floor. It was difficult to drive over the large bump and even created a big tripping hazard when she was making her way inside. Wanting a permanent change that would be effective but not break the bank, she went online to find a solution. During her search she found the American Waterworks website and was interested in our PolyLevel foam product. She decided to sign up for one of our FREE estimate appointments to learn more from an expert from American Waterworks. When one of our Design Specialists arrived at the home, he spoke more with the homeowner about her concerns and created a plan to fix the problems. The homeowner was happy with the project and the projected outcome, so she agreed to continue moving forward with it. Our Foreman, Dylon VanCanneyt and his crew went to the site and installed our PolyLevel solution to lift the driveway back up. Later, another Foreman, Ryan Trogstad made his way to the site to finish the project and install our NexusPro sealant between the joints for a smooth final look. The homeowner was impressed with the work and happy with the results.

High Levels of Radon in Lewiston, MN

Brandon R. in Lewiston, MN had learned about the dangers of radon gas and decided that he needed to get his home tested. The test results showed a high level of radon. So our Design Specialist, Mac Cole, walked Brandon through the radon mitigation installation process and answered his questions. Brandon wanted to act quickly so his family's health would no longer be compromised, so he had the system installed as soon as possible.

Our crew drilled a hole through the floor in the basement to insert a PVC pipe and create a suction point for the radon gas. Then the gas is vented through the pipe and out of the home. A fan is also installed at the top of the PVC pipe where the gas is vented out to ensure that the gas is pushed away from the home. Brandon now has peace of mind knowing that his family is protected from this dangerous gas.

According to the World Health Organization, radon causes 15% of the world's lung cancer cases and kills over 20,000 people each year. If you have not gotten your home tested for radon, click here to set up an appointment!

Foundation Repair in Minnesota City, MN

Lemont B. of Minnesota City, MN had cracks in his foundation wall, making him feel nervous about the structural build and stability of his home. He saw one of our advertisements in the newspaper and called our office line to scheduled a FREE Estimate. Our Design Specialist, Mac Cole, went to his home to inspect the walls and come up with a solution. After a thorough diagnosis, Lemont was confident in the proposal and presentation so he moved forward with the project.

Our Foreman, Raul Barroso, and his production team began the project by digging two holes outside of the foundation wall. From the inside of the basement, our team drilled a long, medal rod from the inside of the wall to each hole beyond the foundation. At the end of each rod, our team installed our GeoLock Wall Anchors, which are made to stabilize foundation walls and straighten them over time. To complete the job, Raul and his team backfilled the holes and replaced the soil, leaving the yard looking neater than when they found it. Lemont was happy with the work and his peace of mind was restored!

Humid Crawl Space Gets Sealed in Minnesota City, MN

A Minnesota City, MN, homeowner had been keeping an eye on her energy bill throughout the summer. She noticed that her AC unit had been continually running, which seemed odd to her. When her bills returned higher than usual, she began to suspect an issue with her crawl space. She began the search for crawl space repairs in Minnesota and eventually found our website. She decided to sign up for our FREE estimate, and a few weeks later, our Design Specialist, Dustin L, headed out to the home.

Dustin completed his inspection and found that the humidity in the space was 68.3% RH. Typically, crawl spaces should be within the 50-60% range. Upwards of 60% can lead to the growth of mold and mildew, which would become precursors for wood rot. Dustin informed the homeowner that we could use several of our products to address the issue. First, Dustin wanted to use CleanSpace and drainage matting. CleanSpace is a 100% waterproof tarp-like material that gets adhered directly to to the unfinished walls of the crawl space. It works to trap water entering through the walls, draining it downward to the drainage matting and perimeter drains if applicable. If the CleanSpace had been installed flush with the ground of the space, trapped water wouldn't be able to flow to a disposal site. Drainage matting fis a dimpled layer of plastic that gives water flooding into the space a channel underneath the CleanSpace. In addition to these two products, Dustin recommended our AprilAire dehumidifier. Even a basement with an effective waterproofing system can still develop moisture and mold problems and may feel damp. Adding an Aprilaire dehumidifier creates healthy air and can reduce the number of viable viruses in the air to less than 1% in two days when set to 50% RH. The homeowner liked the sound of the plan and scheduled the job to be completed several weeks later.

On the day of the installation, our Foreman, Jesus M, and his team installed 660 sqft of CleanSpace, 494 sqft of drainage matting, and 1 AprilAire dehumidifier. Now, our customer can enter the cold months knowing her home is protected from harsh weather conditions!
