Chad from Fort Ransom, ND was looking to have an active radon system with a fan added to his home. After scheduling his FREE estimate, our Design Specialist Ian headed out to the property. After his inspection, he expressed concern that the home might be subject to radon gas. He explained that this hazardous, invisible, and odorless gas was the second leading cause of lung cancer behind cigarette smoking. Chad agreed to have the home checked using one of our leave-behind kits. We set up the kit, and after 48-72 hours, it was sent in to obtain the results; these came back at 10.0 pCi/L. Ian explained that The Environmental Protection Agency recommends taking action for anything above 4 pCi/L. He went on to explain that 1 pCi/L of Radon is equivalent to smoking 2.5 cigarettes.
Ian suggested having a new extraction point installed to depressurize the home. He explained that once the system was installed, it would work to pull Radon from the house, pipe it upwards through venting, and push it out and away from the home. Chad agreed with Ian's recommendation, and work began shortly after. Our Foreman, Cameron, and his crew quickly and efficiently installed the system.
First, The SuperSump Plus was added with a Zoeller 1/2HP sump pump for more power. In addition to this, the plan was to add a discharge line that would ensure the radon went up and out of the house.
Our team connected PVC piping from the sump pump to the ceiling and out of the home, where our team installed the system. The mitigation system is the heart of the system; if it isn't working properly, no radon will be able to escape the home. Once they installed the system and its cover outside the home, they connected PVC piping from the system alongside the home until it reached the roof. The radon was able to escape the home quickly and efficiently. Chad was glad he got this taken care of, and his peace of mind was restored knowing he was breathing in safe air.
Jim, a home and landowner in Fort Ransom, ND, was having issues with the concrete slab under his grain bin. He was worried about how this would affect his storage and the safety of the structure. He looked around and called American Waterworks for a FREE estimate. Richie, one of our Fargo Design Specialist, went out to the property to have a look around the space and created a recommendation proposal for Jim. Jim got all his questions answered and felt confident in the plan, so we got to work!
Our Foreman, Charlie, went out with his crew and installed our PolyLevel lifting and leveling solutions. The crew started by installing injection ports over the gaps to guide the PolyLevel underneath the concrete. Then, our team injected the PolyLevel through the holes to get underneath the slab and fill the voids to raise and level the slab surface. Once that portion of the project was completed, our crew applied our NexusPro over the cracks to prevent moisture from seeping underneath and to give the concrete a neat, polished appearance. To complete the installation, our crew provided the resident with a thorough walkthrough of what they did and ensured the resident's expectations were met. Your concrete won't get better with time, but it will get better with us!

John and Starla H. of Galesburg, ND had water leaking from their walls and had cracks throughout their concrete floor, causing them to feel nervous and unsafe about the living conditions in their home. They went on HomeAdvisor and came across American Waterworks. After looking through the photo galleries of our basement waterproofing and foundation repair installations, they called our office line and set up a FREE Estimate with our Design Specialist, Ian Schultz. Ian went to their home, inspected their problems, and came up with a solution that fit their needs. John and Starla got all of their questions answered and were confident in Ian's proposal, so they went ahead with the project.
Our Foreman, Ryan Loe, and his production team began the project by breaking out the concrete floor with a jackhammer, removing all of the existing concrete. In replacement, our team laid down gravel, river rock, and sand. Next, our team installed our WaterGuard System around the floor perimeter. Our WaterGuard is an underground drainage system that connects to the sump pump, prevents water clogs, and collects water seepage from basement walls. Then, our crew installed our CleanSpace Wall Vapor Barrier System around the wall perimeter, which is made to prevent mold and mildew, cover in holes or divots, and gives the room a neat and clean appearance. To complete the job, our team applied new concrete to the entire basement floor, leaving the basement looking much neater than they found it. John and Starla were very happy with the repairs!
