Sunken Driveway Slabs Leveled in Plainview, MN

A homeowner in Plainview, MN, noticed their driveway slabs were beginning to overlap each other. Wanting to avoid mud jacking, the homeowner began looking into alternative methods. Since they were close to Rochester, the homeowner remembered that American Waterworks offers an alternative to mud jacking. The homeowner went to our website and took a closer look at our concrete lifting and leveling services. Impressed with our products, the homeowner decided to give us a shot. The homeowner signed up for their FREE estimate and awaited the arrival of Nate, one of our Design Specialists. After Nate arrived at the home, he introduced himself to the homeowner and took a closer look at the driveway. Following his inspection, Nate determined the driveway was settling and needed to be lifted. Nate alerted the homeowner of his findings and suggested lifting the driveway with our PolyLevel solution. The homeowner agreed with Nate's suggestions and the plans were sent back to the office for approval. Once they were approved, they were sent to our Foreman, Patrick, and his crew. After Patrick and his crew arrived, they began lifting the driveway with PolyLevel, our polyurethane foam injection solution. Once the driveway was properly lifted, the crew shifted their focus to filling the driveway joints and repairing the cracks throughout. The crew used the NexusPro Joint Sealant to repair these cracks and replace the driveway joints. Once that was complete, the crew cleaned up their materials and moved on to their next project. The homeowner was delighted with the excellent work completed by the crew. American Waterworks is happy to assist our customers with their concrete repairs.

Leaky Basement Gets a Solution in Plainview, MN

A Plainview, MN, homeowner noticed that each time it rained, he could see tiny droplets of water entering his basement walls and eventually resting on his basement floor. Not wanting the issue to persist, he reached out to American Waterworks, as we had done work on his home before. He called our office to claim a FREE estimate, and several weeks later, our Design Specialist, Ryan K, headed to the home.

Ryan took his time inspecting the basement, and when he finished, he met with the homeowners to deliver his recommendations. Ryan explained that because of how and where the water was entering, he was recommending two of our products to address the problem. First, Ryan wanted to install our WaterGuard around the perimeter of the basement. He explained that our WaterGuard is a unique French drain that gets installed below the floor slab but atop the footing of the foundation of the home. This way, the drain stays out of the mud zone, where other drains of its kind tend to clog. It works to collect water entering through the floor and the wall, directing it to the appropriate disposal site. Because the homeowner had a previous system installed, Ryan informed him that the WaterGuard could be connected to their existing sump pump. Next, Ryan wanted to use our CleanSpace to address the water entering through the wall. This 100% waterproof plastic vapor barrier is the perfect solution for unfinished basement walls. The plastic-like material gets adhered directly to the walls, and works to direct water down into the WaterGuard, and eventually to the sump pump. The homeowner liked that the new recommended system could work with the previously installed sump pump, and decided to schedule the project for several weeks later.

On the day of the project, our Production team, led by their Foreman, Jorge M, installed 150 ft of WaterGuard and 146ft of CleanSpace throughout the basement. Now, our customer can enjoy their dry, healthy space!

Bowing Wall Addressed in Plainview, MN

A homeowner from Plainview, MN, was down in her basement one day when she noticed some old cracks on the wall had begun to worsen. She was concerned about what the cracks worsening could mean. One of her close friends just so happened to be one of our Design Specialists, Darin S. She confided in him about her worries for her home, and he reassured her that he could assess the situation and see what could be done.

On the day of her FREE inspection appointment, Darin made sure to do a thorough sweep through the basement, paying close attention to the cracks the homeowner was the most worried about. He informed her that foundation walls are designed to support loads from above, not the side. When the pressure on your walls exceeds their ability to withstand the force, they will begin to crack, bow, slide in at the bottom, and/or tilt inward at the top. Darin went on to say that while this information might seem daunting, he was confident that our GeoLock wall anchors were the correct choice to restore the wall. Wall anchors can counteract soil pressure by anchoring the wall to the stable, undisturbed soil beyond your home's foundation. Darin finished by saying that after the installation was complete, wall anchors can often be tightened over time to further straighten your foundation walls and pull them back to their original position. The homeowner was thrilled with Darin's approach to the issue and scheduled the job on the spot.

On the day of the installation, our Foreman, Jesus C, led his team through a successful installation of 5 GeoLock anchors in the basement of the home. Now our customer is relieved knowing that her foundation worries are in the past!

Wet Basement Waterproofed in Floyd, IA

Richard R. in Floyd, IA had water leaking into his basement. He started searching for waterproofing contractors and he found the American Waterworks website. He was glad to see that we are waterproofing experts, so he contacted us for a FREE estimate. One of our Design Specialists, Mike Radosevich, went to his home to inspect his basement and design a solution. Mike developed a waterproofing plan that best fit Richard’s needs, so Richard scheduled the installation.

Our production team started the installation process by removing the concrete around the perimeter of the basement floor. They laid a partial perimeter of our WaterGuard drainage system around the basement floor. Then, they installed our SuperSump sump pump and filled the void around the sump pump and WaterGuard with rock. Lastly, they replaced the concrete over the WaterGuard and around the sump pump. The drainage system now properly drains water to the sump pump, and from there the water is pushed through the discharge line and expelled from the home. Richard can rest easy knowing that water will no longer be in his basement. He is glad he chose to invest in protecting his home for years to come.
