A homeowner in Kasson, MN, noticed their basement was smelling musty. After doing a quick investigation, the homeowner discovered that sections of their carpet were damp. The homeowner did not want their problems to worsen, so they wanted to find a solution. Uncertain about who to work with, the homeowner asked a friend who had a similar issue. Their friend recommended working with us, American Waterworks. Trusting their friend's recommendation, the homeowner signed up for their FREE estimate. Once the estimate was set, the homeowner prepared for the arrival of Nick, one of our Design Specialists. Nick arrived at the home and the homeowner showed him to the problem area. After Nick did a thorough walk-through of the basement, he found the source of the water. Nick alerted the homeowner of his findings and recommended an action plan. The plan included installing a new drain system and sump pump. Knowing this was their best option, the homeowner agreed with Nick's suggestions. The plans were directed to our Foreman, Gabriel, and his crew and they traveled to the home. Once they arrived, Gabriel and his crew began installing the WaterGuard, our patented below-floor drain, around the perimeter of the basement. Next, the crew took out the old sump pump and replaced it with the TripleSafe sump pump. Then, the crew attached CleanSpace, a waterproof plastic vapor barrier, to the basement walls. To finish off the project, the crew attached an IceGuard, an anti-freeze fitting, on the outside discharge line. The crew swiftly completed the project and cleaned up their materials. The homeowner was grateful to know their basement was no longer at risk. American Waterworks is happy to waterproof another home.
Connie K. of Kensett, IA had water leaking into her basement and her floor joists from above were sagging into her crawl space. She was nervous about the issues she was having, so she asked her peers what kind of contractor could help her with this specific problem. One of her friends worked with American Waterworks for their home repair needs, so they referred her to American Waterworks, so she set up an inspection. Our service technician, Mitchell Sobotta, went to her home, carefully examined the problems, and drew up a solution for her basement waterproofing and foundation repair needs. Connie was confident in Mitchell's proposal and presentation, so she signed the contract and scheduled an installation date.
Our Foreman, Lane, and his production team began the project by installing four of our SmartJacks, which are made to correct issues like sloping floors. Our SmartJacks can support more than 60,000 pounds and are galvanized to prevent corrosion. Next, our team installed our CleanSpace Encapsulation Vapor Barrier to cover the entire floor. This special barrier is made to prevent mold and humidity and transforms the crawl space into a usable storage space. Lastly, our team installed our Foamax Wall Panels around the entire basement wall perimeter. Ken S. in Thorton, IA contacted American Waterworks after seeing one of our ads in the local newspaper. His home already had two sump pumps, but water was still seeping into the basement, and he was looking for more options. We sent one of our Design Specialists, Ryan Powell, to meet with Ken and evaluate the situation. Ryan recommended our TripleSafe sump pump and Ken approved.
Our Foreman, Matt Zeller, and his production crew were able to swap out the sump pumps and also installed our SaniDry XP dehumidifier to take care of any humidity in the basement. For normal functioning, the TripleSafe has a Zoeller ⅓ horsepower sump pump set at the lowest level. For heavy volumes of water or in case of primary pump failure, a second, Zoeller ½ hp pump will take over. In case of a power outage, our UltraSump battery backup sump pump, set at the highest level, will pump 11,500 gallons or more on a fully charged battery. Ken was impressed with the quick installation and is confident in his new TripleSafe sump pump!
